Borrowed a friend's Nikon 600mm f4 to Sungei Buloh, slapped on the GF-1 for the 1200mm reach, and it was so much fun! Even had videos of the birds at 1200mm, but it's a pain to upload to youtube with my limited videography skills so cannot show you, sorry.

Green tinge on the right was because camera partially blocked by leaves, not flare or chromatic aberration. Skin and teeth a bit overblown. My bad. No cropping.

Got my old lens fungus removed and got a nikon to m43 adapter from ebay

Those lenses just keep getting bigger

Compactness is just one aspect of m4/3, it is also an exciting platform where one can rediscover legacy lenses of all sizes and accessories in the digital world.

Some test samples from :

- E-P2 + Zeiss Contax mount 85mm f/1.4, AE version (i.e. older version)
- RJ Camera adapter for CY mount to m4/3
- Contax extension tube 13mm. Other extension tubes can be combined, but I wanted just a less extreme closer capture for this test

- all handheld at f/4 or f/5.6 to show more of the subject while still retaining some bokeh

* coming next will be from an M-mount lens using a Leitz Oufro extension ring .... this is an old accessory (1950s) used with Visoflex for a troublesome way to shoot close-up with a Leica M rangefinder. With m4/3, it's a different story now, TTL, and the accessory gets a new lease in life :-)

Very nice adapter indeed. It's wonderful be able to keep the Pen nice and compact with it.

Thanks for sharing:)

E-P1
m39 to m43 adapter
Jupiter-8 50mm f2

The whole set up is still very handy, much smaller than the m42 setup. m42 adapter is almost 4 time the thickness of m39 adapter. C the last 2 picture of the set up.

All picture taken without pp just resize. color is really natural.

Hi guys, I am thinking of getting a M to M43 adapter so I can mount my Voigtlander RF lens. The original Voigtlander adapter is way too expensive. I found this brand called Metabones from japan which is priced nicely between the 3rd party and voigtlander. Anyone has experience with it? http://www.metabones.com/Product.html

Hope I can join you soon. Very impressive, the E-P2 n Contax 85f1.4 combo.

Here are some macro samples with an M-Mount lens through a Leitz Oufro extension tube. The Oufro is an old accessory (around 1965) used with the Leica Visoflex system for close-ups.

At least with the lens I used, dof is super narrow. Pictures below are at f/4 or f/5.6 and still small area in focus. Good for those who want the sharpness of narrower apertures and still get bokeh, but tough to use.

I think I would only go up to f/8, though. So when bigger areas need to be in focus, I'd use another combination instead, like Zeiss lens + extension tube, etc.

Here is how it looks (in someone's blog):
