m43 in tokyo

When I was in Tokyo in March 2010, I found the most accessories (leather wraps, straps, lenses, lens caps, etc, etc) at the BIC camera at Shinjuku. With Yodabashi and BIC both in Shinjuku, I didn't see a point to take the extra effort and hoof it over to Akihibara.

tks for the advice regarding the passports! i usually leave them in the the hotel safe.

hotel safes are not foolproof..there are master keys to open them w/o passwords..

and better to bring passports when walking in japan as there are plainclothes police going around checking..:D in fact..it is better to bring yr passport no matter where u are going when in a foreign land..it is just a small book. ;)

You can take a look at this...cost about 1,580 yen at BIC. Errr...can help me get one?

Yodobashi in Akihabara is like Funan, more family friendly. The store is in an 8 floor building with nice restaurants at the top. Shinjuku Yodobashi is like SLS meets Mustafa. The store is spread out in 12 locations across a 4 block area. Prices are not much different from Singapore when the Yen yo-yos a lot and credit card companies whack a high exchange rate. See this.
MAP camera in Shinjuku is across the road from the Yodobashi watch section. The basement is like a museum of decades old but like-new condition Rollei, Leica, Hasselblad film gear and where the salesmen wear business suits.
FWIW if anyone is going to Hokkaido, no need to rush back to Tokyo just for Yodobashi or BIC Camera. Both stores are near the JR station in Sapporo.

I just returned from Tokyo a week ago.
I couldn't find those camera skins in either Yobadashi or BIC Camera. :embrass:
Didn't visit the branch at Akihabara but I liked the BIC Camera at Ikebukuro.. the one at Ginza is huge too! Didn't buy any lens cause too expensive but played with many.
End up my wife bought a Pentax Optio W90 and became a BIC camera member!

You didn't miss anything. I found the skins in sheets, not precut and only in basic black texture. I don't recall the price but remember thinking at the time that it was better to order by mail from Akhi Asahi or, for exotic skins, from Cameraleather.
