wat brand of the m42 adapter u guys use? saw a range of prices for the adapters, different brands. wonder if some brands might be better off?

I wonder if we could meet up with the M42 users and try out the lens and see if it's worth buying.

yep..suddenly got tempted to check this mount out too. adds a new degree of exploration for newbies like me :bsmilie:

I have one Adapter from DVD Technik which cannot focus to infinity, good if I want to take portrait and using it on a 1000mm lens, since I would not focus to infinity anyway. Then I have a Jolos adapter that can focus to infinity, which is good for all othe lenses :D .....

I have quite a few M42 lenses, can see who is interested to test them :D.

When would be a good time to meet up to try the M42 lens?

That is a very basic kit lens. Not too bad though. When are you free to look at my lenses? :D

Is tomorrow OK?

Carl Ziess announced their new range of manual focus prime lenses that are on M42 mount. Do a web search. Mouth watering.

look on ebay for the original minolta/m42 adapters. They don't cost much. I think I sold one that I had for S$30.

Or, buy the japanese ones made by a company called "Cherry " (red box) ... better quality than the soviet/china ones. I had a russian made one from Mike in the US and he had to give me another... the first one was too thin i.e. focus past infinity.

These days, IMHO, the Pentax SMC and Super-Tak lenses are better value as the russian/soviet lenses where certain models are close in price i.e. 35/3.5, 135/3.5 ... though of course the jup 85/2 is 1/4 the price of the pentax 85/1.8.

Oh yeah... Carl Zeiss is releasing some new lenses in M42 (Planar 50/1.4, 85/1.4) ... so they should be available soon.... or look for the voigtlander limited-edition lenses. Some are gorgoues e.g. 90/3.5 APO.

You mean the rumoured CZ ZS series? nah .... it was not on their website. Only the ZF series for Nikon bodies.

"CLN: Canon users would love to be able to use Zeiss lenses, too!
Müller: …and they keep telling us day-in day-out. So along with the ZF line, we are also introducing "ZS" lenses. Carl Zeiss ZS lenses come with the same optics as the ZF line; only the mount is different. ZS has the M-42 screw mount, the one that used to be called the "Universal SLR mount." We don't think the M-42 screw mount is going to take the market by storm, but it has a unique advantage: there are M-42 adapters available for any SLR bayonet mounts, including Canon EOS and FD. So you can adapt a ZS lens onto any 35 mm SLRs (and many other applications as well) if you crave the optical characteristics of this lens line and are willing to get along without the convenience functions of recent lenses."

K13 Marketing and Alex photo at Penisula sells M42 adaptor for Nikon Canon and Minolta.

K13 marketing told me a Minolta to M42 is SGD65

Should try eBay, they are so much cheaper. M42 to KM will cost $30.00 to $50.00. They use to cost only $20.00 when I start playing with CZJ. You should check out CZJ 35mm F2.4 or the CZJ 80mm F1.8 cheap and good lenes.;)

I think when I get the lens I'll just buy from K13 marketing.
