M240 IR Contamination

I did a test using my M240 photographing a piece of black microfiber cloth under sunlight. I noticed at 100% there is small amount of magenta cast. When I attached a UV/IR filter to photograph the same object, the magenta cast was gone. It appears there is still a small amount of IR contamination in the M240. It is nowhere as bad as the M8. As I am still using the M8, I still have these UV/IR filters. Leica mentioned these should not be used with the M240. But so far I have not identified any abnormal colour issues. Any M240 users still using the UV/IR filter?

I don't think there is recommendation that UV/IR filter should not be use with m240. If anything, they said it's ok to use. In fact as you have just found out, it may actually be better in some situation. Almost all my lenses have UV/IR filter. I don't see any issue. :)

Pg 224 in the Instruction Manual mentioned the use of UV/IR filter with the M240 might cause color shifts around the edges of wide angle lenses. I tested using my 21mm, 28mm but I could detect any edge colour shifts with UV/IR filters. The slight IR contamination is not obviuos at normal viewing magnification. Of course, if I were shooting sexy models in sheer black stockings and making big enlargements, this might be an issue.:p
