only able to log into 3G initiatlly (first few days of launch)... it became M1 sINGAPORE 2G...Speed is 238kps( Mine is $22 plan, supposed to be 384kps) in actual usage much slower than my home Singnet 512k!

my wife was using it while waiting for me (I was in the meeting) last saturday, guesss what, She gave up and said it is too slow, she rather go home and use the home access (512k)

well, all in all, IMOP, if it is urgent email access... it came in handy... but large file takes really long time to upload, I sent an email with a 2 Mb attachment took me arond 30 mins!

I Regret to signed up so early... now just wait for the 6 month contract expiry and return the modem...UNLESS THE PERFORMANCE IMPROVE! (the M1 guys said the performance will be improve in few months time...)

maybe the higher plan are ok, for $22 plan, don't expect broadband speed! In fact, it is slower than my previous 256K speed!( singnet)

agree.. sometimes it is real slow.. the uploading can died off if too long.

umm, I mainly use this service in the Yishun area. Somehow I can't log on to the 3G network, so restricted to 238kbps on 2G network. Anyone experiencing the same thing as well?

Go town area, 3G speed is only available in town areas.

My bud had his M1 Broadband thing for a couple of weeks. His wife's working in M1 had staff rate so his wife went and got the max plan (the 'fastest' supposedly).

My final thoughts? Its dog slow. I fooled around for a while and gave up.

the 2G rule has been removed. U can surf as much as u wan. ;)

A quick check at M1 Website, and found this...

14. Data included in your bundle is for use in Singapore only and subject to M1's Fair Use Policy as follows:
14.1 Your usage should not be:
(a) Excessive (downloading or uploading more than 2 GB each month inclusive of video streaming, video calls, email access, VOIP calls, downloading and uploading of any content); or
(b) Unreasonable (use which may adversely affect our network, or other customers’ use of our network and/or services); or
(c) Fraudulent (including resupplying our service without our consent to a third party to access the data services).

14.2 If you are in breach of Clause 14.1 above, M1 has the option to:
(a) charge you a rate of S$0.01 per KB in blocks of 10KB, for continued data services usage; or
(b) suspend or terminate the M1 Broadband service.

Note:
Excessive (downloading or uploading more than 2 GB each month inclusive of video streaming, video calls, email access, VOIP calls, downloading and uploading of any content)

Youtube's streaming videos
Skype's an example of VoIP
WHAT?! Restriction even on email access
Restriction on even the download/upload of ANY content (I assume even legal ones).

I am very puzzlded with the 2GB limits placed on users. They are advertising unlimited access. As far as I am concerned, a 2GB limit is no unlimited access.

Are we missing the boat here?

The official response was "to guard against abuse of network resources due to hacking".

My personal conclusion? Give it a miss.

Hard wired internet is always much much faster than wireless internet.

That is why if u are using maxonline or singnet, do make it fully wired. Crazy fast ! ;)

Have to get a set of new 10m CAT5E straights if I were to run it wired all the way since the old one had one part that was constantly 'crushed' by the door for well over 10yrs.

I'm looking for those ubber flat wires though (but the longest I'd found was just 5m). Easier for cable management.

I am on the waiting list for M1 Broadband as it is the only reasonably priced internet solution for a small business in non-residential property. Singnet's prices for SMEs are just too expensive :(

how come thgere's a waiting list? you mean they limit the number of users?

Don't need to worry about the 2GB limits....with the SLOW access speed M1 provided, you will be impatient and log off eventually when downloading big file! :thumbsd: or it's too slow to achieved 2GB in a month!

do u believe ? i surf clubsnap, photographers network, channelnewsasia, cnn, stock markets, msn messenger, and emails (office, hotmail)... it is already 8.61G in just 1 month.

can anyone verify if the 2GB monthly limit have been lifted?

called M1, none of the people I talked to can give me a definative answer. They all said it's unlimited, no 2GB limit, but they also refer me to the fair usage clause.

Well then, probably going to give it a pass. Too bad.
