No..not really. When you conformur hd video to dvd playable format, it will scale down to SD widescreen resolution, but it will still look sharper than footages shoot with sd widescreen camcorders, cuz in hd, you record at much higher pixels. Its the same thing as photograph you shoot in raw and output it to low-res jpeg.

But if u r talking about burning ur hd video onto a dvd as a data file, like burning ur word document onto a dvd, den the quality wont drop, but bear in mind that this option won't make ur dvd dvd-player(tv) readable.

no. absolutely not. DVD = SD. If you want HD on a portable disc, use Blu-Ray is your only solution. That's basing on if you want a DVD-Player playable DVD that is. If your want to use those DVD players that can read digital files like data discs, then it shouldn't be an issue at all.

As said, DVD, meaning the ones where it has a VIDEO_TS hierarchy, does NOT do HD videos at all. Your best bet is widescreen or letterboxing.

Hi, the full HD video I've taken with my Dlux5 has extension .MTS. Is there any software which I can write to blu-ray? I'm using a Windows thirdparty software to produce slideshows of my photos on blu-ray but it cannot accept MTS. MOV is acceptable which is of lower resolution.
