Testing out the dynamic range of these little compact.
must said it had the best dynamic range for a compact i had seen so far
Noticed the amount of shadow and highlight i manage to get with this little fellow..and yes..it had a very nice green colour for tree and grass....making this a very good camera for landscape...now i waiting for the sky to clear up.

Btw, for those who own the LX-3, what camera case do you use. Saw in the internet that the leather casing is retailing for > USD100. Dun think I want to spend so much on a casing. Any recommendations for one that will fit nicely?

Just got mi an LX3 during lunch...
This little cam is a beauty by itself...
charging battery now... :bsmilie:

For me, using a pouch from Bagman... but this one has no padding... so have to be careful not to drop it... but nice fit.
Those with padding a little bulky to my likings..
Harvey norman, close to 20 bucks
Looking to buy the original leather panny case, hope local retails will have them soon.

Wow thats a very expensive lunch u had! :bsmilie: Also using the bagman but Foto Focal instead...it was on sale at COMEX for $18... also if the leather case is more than SGD$100 I'll think twice abt it

those who have the LX3, please post some more low light performance shots so we can see how good it is. See how does it compare to the legendary F31 or F series.

I just bought the LX3 on Mon. Anyway am using the Leica bag given from the shop.

ISO, maybe not... but do note that you are getting a much faster lens (f2.0-f2.8) when compared to the fuji series(normally f2.8/3.3-f5 or more). beside that, i think the OIS is more effective than the fuji CCD-shift stabiliser.

Its the camera(everything that matter) that make it impressive, not just high ISO performance.

i'm going to Tokyo in october, will it be cheaper to get the LX3 there? and is the menu and everything in english?

how about power adapter? is it auto-switching 110 - 220V?

Don't bother buying it in Japan unless you can read Japanese because the camera does not have language option other than Japanese.

Cld you take a picture of the leica bag and upload it here? how much did u buy the whole bundle for? :)

I also took the plunge this evening after managing to sell off my GX-100 for a good price :) and was planning what accessories to add.

After evaluating the price, utility value, etc. searching on Japanese language websites, I decided I'd just get the casing, and I believe no one here has heard this yet: the DMW-CLX3 casing specially for LX3 actually comes in THREE COLORS!!! Yes, the black one that is seen on all publicity photographs, and listen to this: Tea and Red colors!!!

Check this out:

https://club.panasonic.co.jp/mall/l...D3_H=LA010400&CTG_CD4_H=LA010425&SHP_ID=A0004

I'd probably still go for the black, but hey, the other two colors are quite cool too!

Oh, BTW, I did some research and found that the price for the casing in HK is about HKD1000 (~SGD200). Amazon Japan is selling for 8505 JPY before shipping and I tried simulating on vpost and it comes up to about SGD150.

For those of you who are interested, the listed price for the viewfinder is about 241,000 JPY, which, after shipping plus insurance should give you more than SGD400. Most likely Panasonic Singapore will either maintain the price or make it more. Any one with prior experience with Panasonic accessories?

cheers!

wow the price for the casing is already quite expensive but acceptable somehow. but the viewfinder....goodness $400.. hehe if your interested to group buy to save on shipping do count me in bro:)

Thanks for the research! Very useful. Ouch... $150 for a case?? $400 for a VF??! I think I'll look at other generic hotshoe VFs... or just make my own with a piece of wire or something. Or - do without :-P

Checking Amazon, the Voigtlander VFs (e.g. 21mm) are over 100USD. Not cheap but perhaps can substitute for the Pana one.
