What is the price now for this cam? Does it has any promotion in the coming PC show?

Mscolour = $860 with a 512MB card & a original hardcase.

Same price as wat I had paid for 6 months ago at AP. Seems to be holding its price very well...

Just to check, does panasonic discontinue its current model before it releases an update?
I suspect panasonic is going to drop this LX1 without any LX2 in the near future. Only Leica will be selling the D-Lux2 version.
Isn't this what they do with their LC1?

1 word, WOW!

I actually decided before viewing this forum to sell all of my SLR lenses and bodies buy a new small point and shoot camera. My primes lenses have been gathering dust and my thoughts to use my gear more professionally are dissapating. I just want a small fun camera I can hang around my neck to capture the moment. (high quality wouldn't hurt either)

I'll probably get around $1600 for all of my gear. Any takers?! :D

Anyway I was not expecting to find such a fine camera that can also shoot raw and 16:9! What a nice treat, since I expected only JPG pics with all point and shoot cameras.

Thanks to all those that contributed to the message board. Every post helped.

I'm in no big rush to make a purchase but was wondering if anyone knows if there is to be another photography conference where possible a new model maybe released.

Either way, I'm so happy about this find and should be a proud new owner shortly.

btw, the Leica model is a work of art. gorgeous!

take care,
j

With the current technology over the compact camera, it is by no time most people will preferred compact DC versus SLR. Now people are throwing out SLR gear everyday, look at B&S...

The quality of picture from DSLR is still far superior than the point and shoot. There will still be a die hard fan of DSLR. Also control much better and of course can change lenses..

hi, could the others who own the LX1 post their picture here..........thanks:cool:

looking at TZ1 which uses the Venus 3, I strongly believe
the new sensor will find its way to the LX2
which will indeed make it ONE KILLER of a Point and shoot :D

LX2 with Venus 3 BLOUDER !!! ( its bigger than rock )

Weekh, have you tried mircro shot? How narrow is DOF? What is the minimum distance for micro?

Is $699 for the camera a good price? Saw it at Courts, Centrepoint having "closing down" sale.

think only that particular Courts and limited stock... was surprised too. hadn't known how much it costs, else could have bought one (and sell off the R4 which I just bought ;p).

makes me feel like selling my ixus 800 to get the LX1 at 699, now only $39 more than my ixus...haha....i like the 28mm 16:9 perspective, and at least the LX-01 doesn't use the pixel-binding process for NR in the newer venus 3 engine... truly tempting :p

never said it's for a display set.... but dunno how many left by now ;p

Was at AP just now and the salesman still quote me $890 for the LX1 and $1140 for the DLux2 with no freebies.
