Printed some of the pix on A3 size paper with Canon i9950. Didn't even bother to reduce the noise.
Solid prints and I got nothing to complain about.

If u're considering this digicam, just go for it. Don't let the noise issue deter u.

argh! the price!!

wonder how much the LEICA one costs?!

tempting ;p if the noise control is better at higher ISO, i'll grab it ;p

Go for it man!

I sold the Canon Ixus i5 and Pro1 for this.
And I leave the full frame DLSR and a dozen of Leica R, Contax CZ and Canon L lenses home.
All I bring is only the LX1. And I'm very happy with the results. ;)

The Leica looks more chio to me. Don't mind paying a small premium for the look and the brand. But if the diff is too much, the Panasonic is just fine.

Already spend so much on this hobby

I see you're at Baiyoke Sky Tower ...right? Patunam area? I like number 4 (Baiyoke Reflection) and 6 (Soup Vendor) and 7 (Market Scene).

The LEICA DIGI-LUX2 cost $11xx at CP, abt $300 more than the LX-1.

Your pictures are all so well-taken. They really look like those taken by photojournalist that can be submitted for competition, like the one above.

I'm a photographic dummy, I know a good camera doesn't necessarily give you good pictures, so how do you guys evaluate which aspects of the photos as being due to the skills of the photographer?

Please teach me a little.

wa seh...
costly!

thanks for the info!

Weekh, I've seen your other work which you have posted here earlier, and you would do well with any camera in your hands, including your pro-1 or even a cheap P&S. Did you happen to have a look at the Fuji F10/F11?

No, never bothered with Fuji.
Unless it comes out with a digital Xpan. :)

My daughter wanted to me carry her most of the time. I would have 'peng san' and dropped dead if I had used anything heavier.
I think, LX1 could be a good camera. :D
But, definitely you are a good photographer and a great father as well!

Really nice framing and timing for the photos.

This make me think of getting a small cam again ;p , Lumix picture is nice and sharp with the leica lens. Too bad my FZ5 no longer with me.

ooh.. very tempted to get the Leica D-Lux 2 leh.... not that much more than the LX-1 unlike the price difference between the Digilux 2 and LC-1. This is the only Leica camera that I can afford !:embrass:

Thanks for the praises. Luck does play an important part too....

But please look at the images and see how good the image quality is. As I've mentioned, I did little PS to the images. And note the type of photography that this small little cam can do. Don't be detered by the noise issue brought up by the reviews.
I really liked this cam and feel that it is really worth a consideration for those who are serious about using it in place of their DSLR - both for control and to produce professional quality images.

great photographer ... great cam ...

how is the battery life? (number of shots/per charge)

The manual says 240 shots per charge.
In actual usage, the battery life is more than enough to last me the whole day.

hmm, no one can teach me a little?

weekh's pictures really look fantastic and i'm sure its not just because of the good cam. So many of you credit the photographer, so just what does a good photographer consider before taking a shot? How about some tips, please? ;)

just wonder, what common photo paper size can be used to develope using 16:9 ratio???

Look more at how other people shoot, think whether you can shoot with similar style, then shoot more, explore more, find your own style.

If needed can attend some photo course, join photographer group outing for discussion or shooting, read some photography book.

BTW, I am a newby also.
