hi guys..
i'm a new member in this forum, and just bought my lx1 few weeks ago (thanks to weekh's pictures) eventough the guy from AP not keen to sold me the lx1...
im quite a newbie into digital photography and struggling with the raw processing, but all of the pictures here keep my spirit up...
hope to share my pictures soon...

again thanks for the inspiration..

Careless me... shot some nice pics today but later realised that I've shot them at ISO 400. I've earlier used ISO 400 and 4got to switch back. :(

I try to avoid ISO 400 as far as possible. Noise reduction works for some images but not this case. The images here not suitable for NR as there are too many fine details in the image. They will have a plastic / watercolour look after NR.

hey
all

very nice pics you shared here

can anyone tell me the true usefulness of the 16:9 feature they included?

was looking at lx1 in a shop

is it meant for filling the whole tv screen with your LX1 16:9 photo if you buy one of those 42 inch LCD TVs

so in a way no need to buy the hasselblad film based Xpan and shot in panorama mode?

The sensor size is actually 16:9 which means u don't need to crop the image to achieve 16:9. Image size is 8MP.

U can, however, choose to have the common 3:2 or 4:3 ratio format but that will mean cropping the images giving u 7MP and 6MP respectively.

16:9 format is just a preference. It is neither better or worse than any other ratio.

16:9 format TV is getting popular but i doubt u would want to view your images (unless u're shooting video) on your TV screen.

The Xpan format is more 'panorama' than the 16:9 format. I'm just waiting for a digital Xpan!

This was taken later at ISO 200 which is much more acceptable than those above at ISO 400.

I've great fun with LX1. It has given me many nice pics as u can see from all the pictures here....
I will continue to bring with cam with me all the time.
Guess I've shown enough and u have seen enough.

Time to bring out my DSLR and lenses again before fungus grown on them.
Will be venturing into something new which the LX1 isn't capable of....
something that the LX1 isn't capable of...

Bye bye to this thead... at least for now.

Will be using my DSLR to try somthing new...

Thanks for sharing this nice series ricleo. What settings were u using for the night shots?

for most of the street shots at night, I used F2.8 with ISO 100-200max, depending on light levels. Everyshot was handheld with the exception of photos on the peak, disneyland fireworks and the pano of the hk skyline, hence I always go as wide open as possible on the little leica lens :)

Hi hi....

me too mostly used the LX-1 for my recent Hong Kong trip....
was actually thinking if I wanted to keep the cam...
then after the trip...... hmm... need to think again....

anyway... some shots here.... http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=205041
and on my website. :)

ricleo,
seems like the weather was better when you were there..... ;)

hehehe when were you in HK? weather wasn't that good when I was there too.. rained almost everyday, including my disney day. In fact, there was the amber, red and black storm warning, all on the disney day :(

was there from 10 ~ 17 Jun. didn't explore as much as I wanted to cos of the weather.
when were you there?

where's a good place to buy the d-lux 2, and any considerations for the price?

I've been out of Singapore for ages, so I have no idea... =D

Captured this morning, loved the cloud patterns... applied a warm filter and -1EV.

just happen to pass by the temple. Think they feel that my small little LX1 looks harmless. :)

But nowadays time have changed. I think they got official photographer and videographer. Photos was pasted up on notice board the following day. Don't think they mind. I returned the following night and there are several photogahpers with DSLR shooting the possession.

Hi all LX1 users,

I understand the Lumix Lx1 is very noisy (looking at the samples pic at dpreview). Can I know if you guys have done any post-processing i.e. using neatimage/noise ninja ? Can you share your workflow ?

The images I see in this thread are fantastic! The pictures are very beautiful, colours are bright and vibrant, composition are great and most interestingly, the pic don't see to have much noise? How do you guys do it??

Can you post up a full size photo ?

Regards

actually the noise is not that bad... if u keep it under 200 iso... i rarely use the noise reduction...

here's what i've shot with my 1 month old lx1...

just another esplanade shot...
