not much diff, btw I got the Dlux today.

Another difference if I could add is that for the Lumix, there's a joystick to adjust aperture and shutter speed, whereas for the Leica you adjust through the menu.

does it really matter what are you shooting with? color rendered and stuff like that can always be dealt with post process if it so really matters. how big are you intending to print in the first place?

if you can't aim, even if you have a really big spade, you would not be able to hit a nail. if you are a screwed shooter, even if you are given the best equipment in the world, it will not help you. i suggest - just get a camera which you are comfy with budget wise, and get out there to shoot more. the equipment is secondary. but the shooting will help you get better pictures.

if you are really really so particular about equipment, let's not talk about such trivial equipment. why not consider a leica m8? you simply cannot go wrong with such a camera. when you tell people that the picture was shot with a m8, your image will look good. instantly.

now now...dun have to be like this. :) your last 2 paras especially, are quite uncalled for as they have no relevance to this thread. the comparison here is between 2 almost-identical cameras so dun have to compare with m8.

so now....do you have anything you would like to contribute to this thread?

Hi LX3 & DLux-4 Users

Undecided which to buy. Can someone advice is there any difference between the 2 cameras besides the price? Appreciate your advice.

Actually what no one has pointed out is the accessories. Previously, the D-Lux 3 and LX-2 were very identical.

The LX-3 has a nice round optical viewfinder that looks better cosmetically than the Leica one IMHO but the big difference is the Leica one has viewfinder info using LED. The Panasonic one is just glass. Nice and bright though.

The D-lux 4 also has an M-like hand grip (the LX doesn't need one and because of that, you can't fit the Leica one even if you wanted to). The additional grip also means you cannot fit the case.

The Leica has a vertical case compared to the horizontal one for the Panasonic.

I know you wanted to know more about image quality but both are very similar. For some, accessories matter too so I'm pointing them out. :)

Leica 3 yrs warranty

Leica 3 yrs warranty

Given the current advancement, would you use your digital camera for more than 3 years without upgrading?

probably not...but easier to sell if there is outstanding warranty.

What about the attachable viewfinder. Can we fit the leica one onto the LX-3...

EDIT: Sorry, I just saw the viewfinder.. and it's only for 24mm!! :((
