Lumix DMC-TZ10

Panasonic's range of Lumix TZ cameras are interesting. I have an older TZ model that gives me 28mm wide and 10 times zoom capability, good and compact enough to carry around.

Would like to know the battery life of the TZ10.

Anyone care to share their experience?

Just to share a couple of quotes which I got:

MS Colour
$560, with 8GB card and case
Black, Sliver available

Parisilk
$552, with 8GB card and case
Black, Silver and Red available

Thank you very much Cookie88 :) I think will get one from Alan.

primirary photos show TZ10 noise are worst then TZ7 ... that is pretty concerning... DPreview forum got discussion on this as some countries already got the TZ10

It's probably the lens for the cam is meant for outdoor...I can't really justify how it can work in low lights...

Thinking of getting a TZ10 for its fantastic zoom and HD video but have some questions.

Can any TZ10 owner please advise :
Q1 : This camera will always choose what ISO when you shoot flash in P mode ?" I ask because some cameras like the latest Canon Ixus series always default at iso250 for flash shots and this totally ruin its IQ.
Q2 : Can the GPS be totally disabled to avoid battery drain? Will it auto start when you switch on the camera ?
Q3 : I know the video looks great in good light outdoor. But how is it in slighter dimmer light say, a normal fluorescent lamp in a living room at night ?
Q4 : In the best quality HD video AVCHD setting, an 8GB card can shoot how long ?

Any comments are appreciated, thanks in advance!

Q1. The ISO is 320. You can set it to a maximum of ISO 400
Q2. Yes. GPS can be switch off to save battery. Usually I just dont use it. Will only on it overseas ba.
Q3. Low light is ok only... the autofocus encounter some problem focusing in dim light. Dont expect too much from a compact. haha..
Q4. AVCHD is for viewing on Plasma TV, you can also reach in Motion Jpg for video editing and viewing on pc.

Thanks for the reply.

Kind of disappointed that flash photo is default to 320iso in P mode. Looks like IQ will not be good.
Thought Canon default at 250iso is already so high, seems Panasonic is even higher.
Gone are the days when even cheap compacts can take well exposed flash image at 100iso default. Sigh.

Sure no problem. Just saw lumix new model FX75. F2.2 bright lens. You can check it out at their website. Not bad also...

Yeah, the FX75 F2.2 aperture looks very good. Finally, they have AVCHD on FX range. Will definitely try it out if it launches here.

Btw, I saw on a review that the TZ7 took a flash image of people at 125iso in P mode. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209grouplongzoom/page15.asp
How come your TZ10 default at 320iso ? That's a vast difference in design.

The canon is crazy, it chose 640iso in flash mode when the subject is just 5ft away ! LOL

I have no idea also.. maybe different IQ from Tz7 ba.

just like to ask, has anyone ever compare the image quality of LX3 vs TZ10?
What I liked esp about LX3 is its low light performance, as well as its video recording quality.
Does the TZ10's performance match up?

If yes I'd be tempted to get TZ10... for its long zoom, plus it should not be as bulky as LX3?
I like my LX3 a lot, jsut that because of the bulk it's quite inconvenient to bring out some times.

Thanks.

is FX75 available yet?

just read the review at Steve's
