i am a photographer of almost 20 years and use a Canon for work but got an L1 when it first came out because I had the LC1 and it was great. I use the L1 for non-work travel and am simply blown away by the awesome lens. It gives new meaning to "kit" lens! Here are some images using the kit lens...
In addition, I use a 4/3 to Contax adapter with my old 50mm f1.4 and it works very nicely as a portrait lens.
hei, that's a gd point schon! i'm not sure whether the rest of the lenses comes with manual aperture ring. maybe vernonleow or someone who owns a L1 can help?
Only Lumix lenses meant for the L1 will come with aperture rings. So far only the 25mm f/1.4 has been announced (but not yet available) apart from the kit lens. Other Olympus and Sigma lenses do not come with aperture rings as that is not the way their cameras are designed to operate.
Manual setting of aperture via the aperture ring on the lens is not the only analog feature on the L1 that resembles film DSLRs. The selection of shutter speeds is also similar to film DSLRs in that it has to be carried out via a dial on top plate of the camera body. This is not affected by the use of non-Lumix lenses.

When you use 4/3 mount lenses that don't have a manual aperture ring, the aperture selection is done via the camera body using the controls dials. Much like how it works on the Canon EOS system for instance.
However, Manual focusing while in AF mode works slightly different to the Canon where some lenses have FTM (full time manual).
