LTM to M Bayonet Converting.

Hi all,

I just recently got my M bayonet mount rangefinder. :) But I do have some questions, hope the pros here could enlighten me.

I do know that LTM can be used on M cameras via an adaptor. I saw them on ebay for less than 15 a piece. They came in 3 focal lengths, I believe they trigger the different framelines on my camera, but work the same. (?) My question is are these good, and allow me to focus to infinity? Or where else can I get 'better' ones?

Also, I have a few FSU lenses from Russia, through the adaptor, alot of people have backfocusing issue. Is it due to the lens or the adaptor? Any other problems with this combi and how to solve it?

TIA,

Kai

Hi Kai

I've got a couple of those china made LTM-M mount adapter. They do trigger the correct framelines on my Hexar.

You need the correct adapter on the lenses so that the correct framelines would show up on the camera but if you are using a Bessa, doesnt matter as Bessa's framelines are manually selected.

The better made in japan ones, you can get them from out Voigtlander dealer.

I'm not sure about the front & rear focal problems, currently using one LTM-M adapter on a Jupiter 3 on loan & its working very well. No focal problems yet.

The only downside I notice from the china made ones are that they dont seem to be able to take the rear caps very well (M mount caps). Everytime I screw in the rear caps, they just seem to drop off easily.

If they are not made to within tolerance, it will definitely affect focus. That's why I stick with reputable brand.
