Looking to upgrade from 400D

im currently using a 500D, for a few months, and im thinking of upgrading at the end of the year. I'm thinking of getting a 50D with 24-70 f/2.8L or 70-200f/2.8L. But I'm also itching to upgarde to the FF 5DMarkII with the 70-200 straight away. I'm also thinking of getting a 580EX. Anyone has any advice? Sorry for crashing your thread, TS.. =(

Sound like you kana BBB virus....:bsmilie:

Hi Fantasy,

Yeah, i really feels that the 50D grip will fit me better. On the other hand, i brought my 400D for a 16 days backpacing trip in Japan is already very taxing for my body. Not forgetting the heavy winter jackets which i have worn. After a day outside, ur neck and shoulder really aches like hell. Maybe its time to build up muscle. haha~~

Yes, I think you need to train up a little more...:sweatsm:

For my case...
I brought my 7D w/grip, 10-22mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, Tripod and some water, snack for a day of hiking trip and all packed in my back pack.

Total I hiked abt 10km took me 5hrs to 6hrs to completed to hiking route.

I really like it and I'll do it again and again.......
I think I have get used to it now.....

For this kind of hiking trip my FF + those huge F2.8 lenses would be kept in the DigiCab, I would most likely only bring my 450D + 18-200IS + tripod with lots of water and some snacks in my backpack... ;)

I am getting too old for these things...

Wha~ Din know rubber duckie can also be so tough... kidding~~;)

Guess I have to hit the gym to prepare for my next trip~

Guys,

After all your advices, readings from forums and reviews etc, i have decided to pamper myself with a 7D since the weight and size is almost the same after going to the showroom and get a hands on myself. Thanks to rubber duckie for enlightening me on the weight and grip, convinced myself that i can overcome the weight problem. Haha~~

One very last question. After breaking my bank for this camera, I would like to pair the body with sigma 17-70 OS to save some $. I have a canon 10-22mm at the moment.

Initially wanted the 17-55mm to pair with 50D (my initial choice). But the budget now goes to the 7D. What do you guys think of the lens on the 7D which i will be getting next weekend. ;p

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

Anyone uses the Sigma 17-70 OS before?

Tamron 17-50 non-VC?

60D? I thot it is already out.......it is called 7D.

Why would they do 60D now ....... it will be a mini-version of 7D and a bit similar to 550D except with a bigger body.

So why wait? Consider either 7D or 550D.

hahaha, i got a 7D too... :D

What lens(es) do you have now?

Oh, you should look to get an aftermarket strap. Good ones will help relieve stress on your shoulder/neck.

any reco for straps then?

I’ll not recommend the 17-70, because you pay more for the f2.8 but you only get f2.8 at 17-24mm there abouts.

For budget, you’re better off with the 17-50 non-VC, or save up for the 17-55!

Hi Guys,

Im having a 10-22 and 17-85. Appreciate all your kind contribution for helping me to make my choice. :D
