I am giving photography students to take up this opportunity, I understand they need an experience and the desire to do it well. For me I am not too keen on getting professional photographers because they charge very expensive and are sloppy in their work, for them its just another job. I would prefer individuals students who are just waiting to get their hands and turn on their creativity juice on a big event. Well events such as wedding does not require highly acquired photograph skills but planning and timing and lighting and creativity and a bit of human touch. So if anyone is interested, drop me an email.

I refer to this contradicting statement, "I would prefer individuals students who are just waiting to get their hands and turn on their creativity juice on a big event. Well events such as wedding does not require highly acquired photograph skills"

So it doesn't require highly acquired photographic skills and yet require these students to turn on their creativity (sic) juices during the event?

Just to clarify, It is not my concern if the person who is taking up this job/assignment is paid or not but i do hope that you will be fair to the student photog as well. For student photogs who wish to try, may I please suggest that you go into this with both eyes open wide and be very sure what you are getting into, may it be contractual obligations or the client's expectations.

Good luck.

ya, i guess really do not need much photography techniques but just creativity will do, hmm example such as getting a shot from different angles, you do not need to ponder what techniques to apply. My two cents of thought. :)

See what I mean, professionals always think about money first, when I first took on a wedding assignment, I do not even ask to be paid in the first place, if my output is satisfiable, im answerable to myself.

u got to be kidding right?

nope, no technique required, just set camera to AUTO and shoot!
I'm no professional, just a hobbyist...but im pretty sure it's not so simple! :bsmilie:

okok, i volunteer, i'll do as u say ok, shoot from a creative angle without pondering abt "technique"

man?!?! what are you thinking?? It's your wedding! i'm sure u want to be assured of decent shots. If no technique was required, everyone with a camera would be a pro wedding photog by now...

And that is why they are called "professional photographer" as they earn a living from photography. :)
PS: As for sloppy work, well, then I am not too sure how many professional wedding photogs you have gone
through to make a sweeping statement like that but I guess thats an opinion you have formed.

As it is, I know that alot of "pros" do deliver work of a consistent standard simply because thats the only
way they can survive in this competitive field.

Nonetheless, you are entitled to your views. :)

Good luck for your search.

professional photographers because they charge very expensive and are sloppy in their work, for them its just another job

:bsmilie: you have great sense of humour hor!

you don't need any students then, just give a p&s to a kid and tell him to take pictures of your wedding, how about that?

you have sweeping statements, and I hope you take back your cents.

what's wrong with that?? we are making a living by photography.
would you do the same to your day job?? tell your boss happy than pay you your salary??

I do not understand, but I am true of my intentions to give people a chance to expose what a wedding event would be like if they prepare to take on that career later on, I am grateful to have this opportunity, so i thought my wedding is also to give others their chance. Why everyone is so skeptical and laughing at my proposal? Please enlighten abit. If no one take up, then I will really ask a casual friend to help out.

you can say you don't wish to spend money on this areas, most photographers are cool with that. but your comment on the professionalism of photographers is really uncalled for.

if that's ur intention of giving new photographers a chance to try, kudos to you.

but why do u have to make statements like

I am not too keen on getting professional photographers because they charge very expensive and are sloppy in their work, for them its just another job.

that's one big sweeping statement by itself.

I just realised something as well...
Well events such as wedding does not require highly acquired photograph skills but planning and timing and lighting and creativity and a bit of human touch.

Planning, Timing, Creativity, Lighting, Creativity & the human touch are acquired skills that are crucial and important to a photog, more so for a wedding photog. So I am curious what it is you are looking for then? Do you need or not need someone with such skills?

And the only reason why i am so curious about the details is due to how vexed I am in regards to what you are actually seeking?

okok I get it, you all thought I am not going to pay, well in the first place, I am not looking for people that expect to be paid, I am looking for aspriing students to have some kind of experience, in whatever style they want, just for trying out and see if it works for them. You all are right though its my wedding, but I am not too keen on having pictures taken, and if can I will do without, but for the sake of the other beautiful people around, they deserve some attention. Please please all your response very harsh, I thought arts people should be more gentle.

Hi,

I cannot speak for anyone else but I know I am not laughing at your proposal. I am more concerned about what you trying to convey so as to prevent any miscommunication later on.

As it is, have already pointed out glaring inconsistencies in your initial post. I am sure it would benefit you tremendously if you would clear it up for us...

nobody in a right mind will mess around with their rice bowl, for photographer shoot for living, not any tom dick harry can do it, they do have to feed their family.

you don't even respect photographers with experience, spending many years to refine their craft, what make people think you will respect a student/ junior photographers??

you are the one who started this.

even if your asking for TFCD for your wedding, many will be cool on this.

When is your event held? If I am free I'll help you out. :) There are no gimmicks and I won't be late or half-way MIA.

I can only promise you quantity. I can capture more images than your pro photographer and more candids than your pro photographer.

Congratulations on your wedding. I have been a second photographer once, and I find it really enjoyable. Gongxi~
