Dudes, I think that you can safely let the couple decide as to which photog and package best fit their packages... They know how far their dollar would bring them since they are no strangers to the community here.
In any case, I would just like to say that it would be callous for anyone to advice to just spend on their wedding day or to splurge on this and that all in the name of 'once in a lifetime'. I mean not all burnt holes in the pockets can be mended easily or quickly. Especially so if credit facilities are used and those who are married can attest to it. Snowballing interests are silent and very deadly killers!!
So Furry, please make your choice objectively and most definitely within your budget. This wedding is once in a life time thingie, agreed of course. But do not spend the rest of your life time worrying about how to clear the debt from this event that is supposed to be happy...

hey horse, u're right.. we're no strangers to the community here.. we definitely know the hard work that goes behind those beautiful layouts and the painstaking efforts some photogs put into their product.. which is why the price tag. we appreciate the journalistic style and can definitely tell the "point-and-shoot" from the really good ones.
no doubt the AD memories are hard to replicate and should take higher priority, but alas, there's always the practical constraints as i've mentioned.
well, planning to meet up with some photogs we've shortlisted, have a chitchat with them, and see how our interaction goes!
Don't worry, most importantly, as Kelvin (my Photography Idol) mentioned, pick one that you like, feel comfortable with and most importantly, you MUST meet up and view their portfolio.
