Looking forward for that enthusiastic photographer to come and capture me and fiancee beautiful moments.

I hope you know what you are asking, this is not some thing you can UNDO, or re-enact, if you don't get it right the first and only time.
but if you have very low expectation on the outcome, that is entirely up to you,
since these will be the photos of your wedding solemnisation and you are the one keeping all the photos for the rest of your life.

and I sincerely hope you are not try to use tight budget as an excuse to get the sympathy of experienced photographers to help you.
there many more needy people out there who really can't afford to have photos and it did not cross their mind to have one, let alone come here and ask for help.

anyway, congratulation and best of luck.

This is true. Those with no budget probably just ask their friends if any and won't have much expectations...

It's quite risky.

Given, this is only ROM not wedding so give and take

Agree, dont expect so much from the photograher as 'tight budget' of yours and this is a life time.

Some things must spend ... Means Must Spend ... There's no other way around unless prepared for disappointment ...

You are already paying premium for 12 Dec 2012 ... Hardly any professionals will keep that day for you as well ...

SOLUTION: Get 3 or more friends to help record your precious day ...

GOOD LUCK & BEST WISHES ...

Don't come and bluff lah.

Its obvious between cannot afford and don't want to afford.

If you can hold ROM at hot date like 12-12-12, at a beach club, dont tell me you cannot afford a photographer. Most ROM photography package for 2-3 hours are very affordable.

It shows clearly how much value you put upon photography and how much respect you have for the craft.

I donno who teach you to come here or how, but you are not a regular participant of this forum and had contributed nothing but is here to take something.

Did you pull a similar trick with the dress shop, florist, catering, etc?

Photographers who decide to help him must make sure you all don't get mistreated. Have a proper agreement stating you are doing it pro bono, there shall be no liability in regards to failure to perform, nor should any opinions on quality or quantity from anyone be used as any form of personal attacks against the photgraphers, and any ang bao received shall not be construed as payment, copyrights 100% must retained by photographers, photographers should also enjoy 100% creative freedom on how they shoot, who they shoot and what they shoot, and not be made to do work against their will not should they tolerate any forms of abuse. They also must not be rushed on editing and delivery.

A certain incident involving a certain photographer still fresh in our minds, dont end up like him.

ROM is the actual wedding. Vows are spoken, witnessed, legally, emotionally, in presence of officiant.

Anything else on other days are just customary, done as a show to show off, satisfy family, relatives.

This is no doubt insanity at its best. Few scenarios can happen.
1. Photographer no come.
2. Photographer no give photos because ang bao too tiny, turn MIA cuz this request = TFP.
3. Photograph kns = both parties not shiok.

Best is, ask your buddy to shoot. No problems.

Haha. ROM by law is wedding. By chinese customs no count.

depends on individuals.

In Singapore Chinese wedding context, ROM date is the wedding date. Actual Day date is the dinner/lunch date only. With ROM you can buy house, get divorced, sue husband, fight for children custody. Just customary and dinner only without ROM could be a secret marriage or bigamy or mistressing. Guy might have other wives in other countries.

Always count by the ceremony in this order, Legal, Religious, Customs. In the absence of law, it is naturally religion, anyway legal and religious are often tied together in most countries worldwide. Unless if that individual is some hill tribe with no government regulating, then can count by the customs thing. Haha.

Trying to act pathetic? I sympathize your wife-to-be that you have to resort to such cheapo tactics for your big day uhn, Mr got-$-drive-EVO-no-money-pay-for-shoot. :sticktong:thumbsd:;(

Mr Cheapo.

I will like to give my utmost disrespect to anyone who offer to do this. Do it for free/small fee by all means BUT do it for your OWN best friends and not this kind of cheapo strangers.

Erm, u spell venue wrongly as venus. I would like to travel to venus to take photos though. :D

Anyway, no matter how tight your budget is. At least try to be reasonable ok. After all, solemnisation is really a once in a major event. For most people, it is a once in a lifetime event. So, it would be better if u take this matter more seriously. :D

Like I said, it depends on individuals. Try getting your wife preggy after ROM and before Chinese customary and you see how the tongues wag.

ROM is important without doubt but not a must have photograph to me unless you do something meaningful enough and have people witness it etc. ROM to some couples can be just them and the witnesses going to the registry to sign a piece of paper.

Word.

I laughed a little at this. This may be a little overreacting.

Well, maybe an amateur can shoot for his own portfolio sake. With model release signed that is. ;)

Test it out during someone's ROM. You don't get to do it everyday.

The point is not whether photography is a must for ROM but coming here from nowhere asking for cheap/free shoot under the disguise of "experiencing/TFCD"???? Over reacting? Nah, still better than people who DON'T react to this **** situation that is becoming a unhealthy norm.

wedding solemnisation is legal and law blinding, women and children are protracted under this law.
I'm glad that nowadays young couples have attand the
Mandatory Marriage Preparation Programmes before they can file for marriage registration.
so ROM is not just for people sign a piece of paper to apply for HDB flats.

Our laws don't recognised customary wedding has any legal estate since 1960's anyway.

this whole thread is like the gloom come and say to photographers, "I game for this, are you game too?"

I want to ask; what's up in people mind nowadays?

and here we are talking about a
wedding solemnisation, please be serious.
this is not a model photoshot, or a TFCD session, which anyone can happy happy than show up, come and test your new lens or new camera or your skills, and than maybe later say, "alamak! I set wrong setting,
sorry no photos"

anyway, TS's contact is in the first post, anyone "
