Looking for good deals on Canon Lense...

Hi all,

I'm currently on Canon system and would like to know in which country is the price of lenses more friendlier to the wallet? Is it Hong Kong, Japan, USA, Malaysia, Thailand, etc. ? Can someone please share your views/comments? I'm talking in general lah... I know sometimes it is cheaper in a country for a particular lense but that does not mean cheaper for the lenses in general.

Yes, so far from the forum, a lot of ppl buy from HK... However, I heard from a friend of mine who says Thailand is cheaper. I'm not so sure about that and that's why I'm asking all brothers and sisters here (the community). Thank you all very much for your advice.

not really. i think hk is still cheaper than thailand. thailand is marginally cheaper in terms of camera bodies but lenses are abt the same there. usa will be good as well.

Hmm.....I see....seems like US are having some rebate program going on right now till the end of the year.

So can I say cheapest (legitimate, non-grey), in the face of the earth, is HK? Then next comes the USA?

once u get it from overseas, its considered grey already. but for lenses, the warranty is honored here. not for bodies though.

Any idea if Japan duty free is a good place to buy Canon, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina lens??
Most of our Canon, Tamron & Tokina lens are made in japan, wouldn't it be cheaper??
Any idea from bros here?

Ahh yes, but l'm more like looking for lens and to determine which country is better to buy them, i.e. cheaper. Seems like HK is the place to go. Now I'll have to search my address book to see if I know anyone in HK who can help me buy or not. Any recommended shops? I guess there are a few mentioned in the forums. Probably, I'll start there. Thanks.

USA also looks tempting. Now they have Canon Rebate program on-going.

A bit difficult if you are not going there yourself to buy. Your friend might not be able to test the lenses as thorough as you and you might have problem getting something that you are not 100% happy.

canon lenses doesn't seem to be much cheaper in japan. not sure abt the other brands. but i guess the attraction is finding the rarer lenses at a good price or used lenses.
