Looking for a ultra-wide angle zoom for my D750

Just reporting back after borrowing my friend's 20mm:
Whilst it certainly added a different viewpoint, and the quality of the lens was solid, but it's the hassle. I travel to a variety of places, and getting the shot is more important than the PQ itself. If I change a lens, I might miss the shot, or it's too dusty to change lens or the weight really matters.. so I decided that I will borrow it when I need it, and stick to my 28-300mm for my D750 for most shots :)

Ok good, I also have the Haida 100 series.

Between the 16-35/F4 and 20/F1.8, now that you purchased the latter, which one you prefer for landscape now ?

Thanks

Actually there is no specific preference as i almost always reach for the 16-35 for travel and sometimes also pack the previous afd 20 for astro since it is pretty small. Both afs 16-35 and afs 20 will do landscape just fine but u might want to see if u prefer a zoom convenience with fingers vs stepping backwards or forwards with your legs. Additionally, on days when i hiao feel like going prime, i pick up my 20, 35 and 50.

But i must say though, the afs 20 is definitely sharp centre even wide open and definitely better over the afd 20 if u are not considering choosing versatility of a zoom over a prime.

TK Foto told me that the last person who bought the 20mm F1.8 at first bought the 25mm then came back to exchange for the 20mm in less than 30min :dunno:

So, you're the one who bought the 25mm then came back to change for the 20 mm ? :bsmilie:

Btw, I am guilty of picking the last piece at HN ... lol ... think after my purchase whole Funan no stock ... next bldg at Cathay oso no stock ... :bsmilie: :bsmilie::dunno:

Hi all experts,

This question is about RAW format setting in page 177 of the manual.

Just checking what setting you all used for

PHOTO SHOOTING MENU > NEF (RAW) recording, which of the following do you select & left it as yellow ?

a) TYPE > ON ==> lossless compressed

or

b)NEF (RAW) Bit Depth ==> 14-bit ?

Thanks

For RAW files select "Lossless Compressed", since D750 doesn't have the option to select uncompressed.

For max color data select 14 bits. It will have more data for post processing manipulations. With 12 bits the files are smaller with lesser data.

The RAW files will be large at this setting but SD cards are quite affordable nowadays.

I always use 14 bits & lossless compressed for NEF raw files. Nothing else

Thanks, Light Machinery.

I have problem understanding "--" in the selection. But i think I understand liao.

Below was my confusion:

In the PHOTO SHOOTING MENU > NEF (RAW) recording it says that it is "--".

So when you press the right arrow, it gives you 2 options:

a) TYPE > ON ==> lossless compressed

or

b)NEF (RAW) Bit Depth ==> 14-bit ?

Since, one of them is highlighted in yellow (in my case, TYPE > ON ==> lossless compressed, I thought I selected "TYPE > ON ==> lossless compressed" and "NEF (RAW) Bit Depth ==> 14-bit" was not selected bcos it is in grey ...

So, within each category "TYPE > ON" and "NEF (RAW) Bit Depth", you can select its option. Then the yellow cursor placing on either "TYPE > ON ==> lossless compressed" or "NEF (RAW) Bit Depth" is misleading ...

Thanks
