i have 2 lousy experience with MS Colors and i should've kicked myself real hard for goin back to them after the 1st incident!

anyway, the only ones i trust and go to are Cathay Photo, Lords, John 3:16, Orient Photo and Ruby Photo.

heard abit abt TK Photo but yet to purchase anything from them.

so u must make it a point to buy your next BIG item from them...

really...quite surprise the last time i went to MS the service was little short of superb:thumbsup: guess is jus wrong person at the wrong time........:dunno:

No matter where u go, 711 or hud, all are the same pattern!
Unless you are lucky to meet Florence or another uncle (p/s takes note, uncle will show you different faces when he is very busy!)....

711 or hud ???

alw go to ms color for my purchases and i haven receive any bad service yet to date. If u really wan gd service, look for the lady boss Florence or the uncle Jackson.

I won't want to visit the MSC @ hub. I went there twice , twice wanted to buy something with cash in pocket already, and twice they p**sed me off. But i must state that the service from the MSC near Jubilee is good. So far i really have no problems with them, even as a walk in customer, with or without Florence around.

Just tell you one of my recent encounter (good and bad).

The Good

Before i went for a holiday last year end, i wanted a "multi-purpose" lens. So i went down MSC near Jubilee and wanted to get a Nikon 16-85 VR. Price quoted was $8x0, but no stock. The friendly salesperson helped me called the other shop at Hub to enquire but also no stock. They told me stocks will be in on saturday, so i told them i will be back on saturday then.

I went back to MSC to get the reserved Nikon 16-85 VR on staurday. When i reach the MSC near Jubilee, I found the copy I tested to be very soft. I have tried (belong to friend) at least 2 other copies of the same lens on that body before, so i know what to expect. The salespeople told me that its ok and they have another copy at the Hub. They told me they will give the salesman there a call. So i went there.

Overall, i think they are very helpful and polite.

The Bad

When i reached there. There was one customer there, served by a salesman. There was another salesman about the age of 40 or so there, not serving anyone. But he never came over to ask if i needed help, after having me stood there for sometime. (Fine...) I walked to him and i told him i am here to get the Nikon 16-85 VR. He gave me a blur look and ask me if that lens was a third party lens; he asked me that question twice (WTF!). I told him it's a Nikon. Finally he found the lens and i tested it. Same thing, lens a bit soft but was sharper than the previous one. I thought maybe its the condition or something wrong with my eyes, so actually i decided to buy that lens from there. I detached the lens, and i told him that the lens from this shipment seems a bit soft. After pausing for a while, he gave me that cocky look and tell me the lens is sharp, the problem lies in my camera body (maybe got something wrong or what). I decided not to say anymore, and i thank him and walked off. BTW i bought the camera body from MSC too. He don't even know 16-85 VR is a Nikon lens and he claims to say that the lens is sharp (how does he know the performance of the lens when he don't even know what was it? he never even saw the pictures i tested). What did he took me for? Newbie, knows nothing or an idiot?

What I did eventually

Went to Orient Photo at SLS. Bought that same model lens for $20 more. Was as sharp as i expected it to be. Good service from there.

I will still buy things from MSC, but i would prefer not to get them from the shop at the Hub.

uncle Jackson u mention, his head no more hair that one?

That's why I stop buying from MS and start buying from Cathay at peninsular. Very informative and they are willing to let you try out any cam you ask them to show and no monkey business like demanding you to fill-up-one-portion-of-the-warranty-card nonsense. TK photo also not bad. John@Funan service is good but with slightly higher price (maybe about $10~$20)

Hi all!

I am a newbie in DSLR and been reading alot lately to know about DSLR. After weeks of reading up from this powerful well regulated clubsnap forum, I've decided to narrowed down to 2 DSLR camera models. Since AMK is very near to where I stay and MS colour was often mentioned for good service from thread I've read, so I chose to get my camera from AMK Hub MS Colour.

This encounter happened yesterday, 2nd Jan 2009 around 7pm. The shop has no customer when I entered the shop. There were 2 salesman(quite old, like in 40s to 50s) chatting happily in hokkien. As I hear them speaking in hokkien, being nice, I started conversing with them in Mandarin, asking them about the 2 DSLR models, Canon EOS 450 and Nikon D90.
One of the salesman in black sony alpha t-shirt replied me in a very unfriendly and bad-mannered way and was relunctant to show me their display models when I asked if they have any display set. He didnt bring out the canon display set. For nikon set, he mentioned in a very sarcastic way that nikon model was out of stock, not to mention abt display set.

After which, I started asking them how much will be Nikon D90 kit set paying with credit card and the salesman in white t-shirt started pressing the calculator very hardly and sulking and shaking head and showed me the price. Then i further asked what things were throw in together, then he replied in an unfriendly way again. Feeling that they doesn't want to serve me, I walked out of the shop.

After walking out, thinking much about the attitude they have gave, I am actually quite  !

I look quite a young female and dressed in jeans and t-shirt but that doesn't mean i don't have the capability to buy the camera!

They should treat all customers the same. I think I won't get anything from MS Colour anymore... with such service, I'll rather pay more for a nice chat to share views and tell me which camera I can get.

Anyone have similar encounter with this AMK Hub MS Colour shop? Pls share...

John 3:16 is a family business, but they know how business work. Yes their price are higher a little. The young boss, still remember me even I have not go there to buy anything from them for few years.

Enlive, your complaint has apparently caught the attention from MSC. I was there today and they have a printout concerning a complaint (I guess it must be this) and circulated around the staff at AMK Hub.

wow customer recovery in process...

Company Profile
M S Color was founded in the 1950s under the name of Melim Studio (MS), serving our valued customers in the northern area (Nee Soon, Mandai, Chong Pang and Sembawang) of Singapore. Since its conception, M S Color seeks to provide great products at the best prices, at the same time forge ties with our customers through excellent customer service.

i think they might need to change the slogan if things doesn't improve....

hey!
there are 2 MS color shops in AMK. most went to the one just behind the big S-11, in front of Mr Bean (simply means at infront of Jubilee)
the one in hub is well known for looking down on students, not serving customers they they think are poor and not buying, i dunno why.
was recommended to go to the one behind S-11. you can try it, one heaven one hell.:)
