Long zoom before 45-150 f2.8

How to justify which is the better system? Right tool for the right job. Some working photographers got FF and digital MF, can't possibly just use the MF simply because technically it is superior, I personally wouldn't want to lug around MF with all the lenses

Besides, the PRO lenses give me better versatility for shooting videos. So I'd rather invest in it, afterall, the value of lenses don't drop that drastically, so it doesn't matter that much
Oh if u r using it for another purpose then it's absolutely fine. Cos I thought u r using it for the same purpose like some of my friend.

Contemplating keeping the freebie 40-150R for travel, despite having a 40-150 PRO on its way. Perhaps the lighter lens will be more suitable for casual travel shooting to justify keeping it around. Thoughts?

The E-M1 serves both purposes, I use them interchangeably

Do u own/tried shooting video with pany GH4? If yes, may I know what's your take of GH4 vs EM1 when it comes to video?

Never had the chance to use GH4,only touch it, kardinsky should know better about GH4, for me, E-M1 serves me well enough

Why not ? :) it's lightweight and cheap enough to just keep in the cabinet.

Or simply sell it and buy it back at <$200 when u need it like what a friend of mine does

yeah i know. i wanted to do that too (was is Tokyo earlier) but the box is big :bsmilie:

Hee ... A lady just got caught at customs with more than $10,000 worth of bags wor. Beware.
Back to the idea of is the cost savings worth missing out the warranty for

While everyone was grabbing that 40-150/2.8, I got that lumix 35-100/2.8. very happy with the compactness and weight. IQ also very acceptable. :D

I was using that 75/1.8 as my long tele. and that 50-200 on a tripod as my zoom.

Personally haven't had the chance to shoot GH4 either. Only GH3 so far. I might get to shoot both in Jan/Feb, will see if I can do a comparison then. On paper though, the differences that standout most (to me) with the E-M1 is that it has limited codec/framerate options (only 30p) and has no headphone output jack.

Anyway, let's not OT too much in this 40-150 thread. bhtan83, if you're interested, I can pull these posts out and create a separate thread for discussion, I'm sure there'll be current GH4/E-M1 owners who can chime in.

Sorry for the off topic. I'll find out more on my own. Thanks.

Wait till you look more at the IQ of 40-150/2.8... :bsmilie:

Ignorance is bliss ;)

Definitely. I was not exactly enticed by the 40-150 2.8 until I actually saw what it could do, which prompted me to jump into the bandwagon with the 2nd pre order. I can only say I am anxiously waiting.

But will still be keeping my Panny 45-175 for now for my travels until it seems unnecessary.

Sure $ can buy. If someone is willing to buy at $2500 for the 1st batch of preorder, some ppl might consider selling? Lol just a thought.

Chu Boh, if 2nd pre-order can sell $2488, i sure sell it as 40-150mm not my fav tele len.
