Lomo is all about the element of surprise... to many depths which i felt can't be replaced by digital technology.
1. Film. There's so many characteristics to film.. like yellow hue, greenish feel, bluish tone to Agfa Precisa CT100, Sensia 200, etc. All these can't be rendered with 'digitalization'. Even so, the depths resulted will be usually uniform, not of texture.
2. cross-processing. that's the thrill part which i think most of us love lomo about as well. The chemicals utilised in cross-processing these films will usually render alot of surprises - the tones, saturations, overall feel of the picture taken.
3. Light leaks. Especially for Holga fans, this is what defines our cameras. It's the unexpected exposure of our pictures that really make the whole process enjoyable.
That's just a brief brush on my take on this. No matter how powerful a digital camera is, it will never win the original lomo. Ask anyone who owns one, and i'm sure he/she has a toy camera in his/her possession as well.
