Logger or on-camera gps?

I have been looking for a geotagging solution for a while now. Unfortunately, the only on-camera GPS solutions that appear worthwhile are for DSLRs. But the problem is that from the second you turn on the camera, you need to be able to take a shot. If the gps takes even 10 seconds to lock then it is useless. From what I hear, most of them take as much as a minute. This is unacceptable as a solution, so I think an external GPS logger has to suffice. But post processing is not accurate and complicated. That is a dilema.
