DEFOUR `COULDN`T SAY NO` TO REDS

who is he?

Steven Defour's agent has claimed the Standard Liege midfielder couldn't turn down the chance to join Liverpool if they came in for him.

With Xabi Alonso's future continuing to dominate the headlines as Real Madrid look to secure his signing, the likes of Roma's Alberto Aquilani and Defour have been linked with a move to Anfield.

Defour, 21, has also been linked with Real.

And quoted in the Daily Mail, he says: "I have an agreement with Standard Liege that I could go to a top club, and Liverpool fit the bill."

His agent Paul Stefani added: "Steven's name has been mentioned not only at Real Madrid, but also at Liverpool - they are looking at him too.

"Normally he would stay for another year, but nobody could say no to clubs like those - and Liege would not stand in his way."

* 11.03: Back to the latest Xabi nonsense - the online Daily Mail is claiming that Real Madrid 'are threatening to walk away from negotiations to sign Xabi Alonso if Liverpool do not drop their £30million asking price today'.

Real are apparently only willing to offer £23m, rising to £25.5m, for the Spaniard and Liverpool are only willing to compromise by £2m.

Just when we thought the sodding deal might be done... *

what?!?!?! 25mil GBP for Alonso? WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Liverpool agree to sale of Alonso

Liverpool have reached an agreement to sell midfielder Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, subject to a medical.

The fee for the Spanish international is reported to be in the region of £30m but Liverpool said the terms of the deal would remain confidential.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from Real Sociedad in August 2004.

haizzz
since he handed in transfer request, nothing else we can do

I seriously wonder if those calling for national anthem to be played, have supported the national team live in stadium.

For the 40,000 fans who attended the Liverpool's match against the Lions, I'm pretty damn sure if the Lions scored, the cheer would have been just as loud. For there are times, when the Lions were attacking, the crowd is just as ecstatic.

sorry, only just see this post.
I do feel you missed the point.
Even on formality, there was no need to play national anthem.
The term kindly provided by FAS was "Class A internationals" between national teams.

Regular visitors should instinctively know this, there were games involving national team where national anthem not played and nobody made a fuss. (sorry, I can't list the games offhand)
Ppl who don't go to national team games often enough to tell and still claim they are voicing out in support of the national team?
Do you really need to listen to them?

Now, the agreement not to play YNWA in return, I'd wait for match organizers' word.
That, there's something to pick on, if only they're smart enough to do so.

All the other "what-if" scenarios, we'll never know, and really no point speculating.

Do feel free to point out the flaws in my statements, if like me, you're still sore about this issue..

Hm.. hm.. well for those who ask Rafa to show them transfer-profits, sure got profit on this one.. just not sure its a profit we wanted to see... Then again Alonso may play well (2008-2009) or not so well (2007-2008).. :what:

Thanks for the memories Xavi and all the best.. :)

no need to listen to them la. to me, i can't be bothered.

i think we have more important issues to take care of then to keep harping on this issue.

FAS next time make it compulsory that the national anthem must be played whenever the national team plays lor.
