May 26, 1989: Liverpool 0 Arsenal 2
No team had ever dented Liverpool's title ambitions so dramatically as Arsenal. It was the last game of the season, and just over two months after the Hillborough tragedy.
John Barnes needed only to take the ball to the corner flag to see out the match, giving Arsenal a 1-0 win but Liverpool the title on goal difference.
But Barnes was dispossessed. The ball flew down the right, and Alan Smith's pass send Micheal Thomas through to score in the 92nd minute and hand Arsenal the title.
