Reports: Liverpool keen on Santa Cruz

Roque Santa Cruz is being linked with a move to Liverpool after reportedly telling Blackburn Rovers that he is determined to leave in the summer. The Paraguay striker has his heart set on a move to a big club and could be a target for Rafael Benitez.Santa Cruz, who is currently recovering from surgery on a knee injury, told Radio Nanduti: "I have already told Blackburn and they know that before the transfer window closes I would like to continue my career at a bigger, more ambitious team.

"Even though I haven't heard anything, I haven't changed my mind."

And reports suggest Liverpool will lead the chase for the 27-year-old to partner Fernando Torres next season.

Gunners hit with injury problems

Whilst Liverpool are without captain Steven Gerrard for tonight’s Premier League clash at home to Arsenal, the Gunners have a string of injury problems themselves.

Robin van Persie (groin), Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring), Manuel Almunia (ankle), Gael Clichy (back), William Gallas (knee) and Johan Djourou (knee) are all sidelined.

With Arsenal still going strong in the Champions League, preparing to face Manchester United in the competition’s semi-final, manager Arsene Wenger may be tempted not to risk his remaining big players.

The Gunners do however welcome back Bacary Sagna, who has had a virus, and Eduardo. Lukasz Fabianski will again fill in for Almunia in their goal.

Kick-off at Anfield tonight is 8pm.
