AURELIO: WHY LIVERPOOL FEAR NO ONE
Jimmy Rice 09 March 2009

Fabio Aurelio claims no one in the Liverpool dressing room has been daunted by the prospect of facing Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are the most successful side in the history of continental competition having won nine European Cups.

However, Aurelio insists Liverpool's own European pedigree, including two finals under Rafa Benitez, means they have no one to fear.

"We are not frightened of anyone," the 29-year-old told LFC Magazine. "Certainly, from my point of view, I'm used to playing against Madrid every season from my time in Spain, as are many of our players.

"But aside from that, we are Liverpool Football Club and we don't have to be afraid of anybody.

"If you look at the last three or four Champions League campaigns, Liverpool have been in the last four in all but one of them. We have reached two finals in recent seasons.

"Although Madrid are a great club with a great history in Europe, Liverpool are also very famous in this competition."

RAUL: ANFIELD IS CRAZY
Jimmy Rice 09 March 2009

Real Madrid icon Raul admits he was awestruck the first time he visited Anfield.

The 31-year-old came to L4 to watch pal Fernando Morientes a few years ago - and he can't wait to return on Tuesday for the Champions League second round second leg.

"I'm stuck for words. It's so different: the singing in the ground and the approach to the stadium," said Raul.

"You walk through the area with all the houses and suddenly there it is, the stadium, you can't see it until it's on top of you - crowded with all the fans, the noise, the passion.

"The atmosphere was incredible. It was a league game. I can't imagine what it's going to be like for a Champions League match - crazy."

Raul also spoke of his admiration for opposition skipper Steven Gerrard.

"I've seen Gerrard win difficult games for his team so many times by scoring or making the all-important goal," said the striker, who holds the record for most Champions League goals with 64. "He is so good at helping the side when they need him most."
