Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has hinted Dirk Kuyt will not be leaving Anfield for Juventus.
The Dutchman had been linked with a move to the Serie A giants with reports in Italy suggesting the club were willing to spend around £30m to get his signature.
But Benitez, talking to the media ahead of Sunday's FA Cup Fourth Round tie against Everton, insists he does not want any 'senior player' leaving Anfield during the January transfer window.
And that would suggest Kuyt's immediate future remains on Merseyside as Benitez wants his more experienced players to end Liverpool's 19-year title wait.
He said: 'We are not doing anything in the transfer window.
'We are just waiting, we are receiving phone calls about our younger players going out on loan but not senior players because we need them to help us win the title.'

Hicks and Gillett face up to sale of Liverpool at knockdown price
Tom Hicks and George Gillett will have to settle for £110m less than they would have received last July if the second attempt to sell Liverpool to Nasser al-Kharafi, the Kuwaiti billionaire, succeeds. The American owners would, however, make a profit of around £30m each on the price they paid to buy the club in February 2007.
Al-Kharafi approached the American co-owners last year with a view to buying Liver*pool for £600m, only to withdraw from negotiations with the contracts all but signed. Hicks is said by one close observer to have been "incandescent" at the failure to close that deal.
Al-Kharafi has now returned to the table but on vastly different terms, with his position strengthened by the Kuwaiti dinar worth 253p compared with 189p last July and with Hicks and Gillett under pressure to refinance their takeover of Liverpool. They must sell their 50% stakes in the club before July, when the club's £350m loans with RBS and Wachovia are due for repayment, and it appears unlikely that any bank will continue to support the Americans' highly leveraged operation.

Wenger backs Benitez over United 'advantage' claims
Arsene Wenger has backed Rafael Benitez by saying the fixture list is "unexplainably advantaged" towards Manchester United. Although the Arsenal manager's claims do not amount to the same kind of outburst made by Benitez two weeks ago, he does reiterate the Spaniard's concerns that there is a favouritism towards the Premier League champions in the way games are arranged.
"I feel that next week Benitez has a case if you look at the way the fixtures are arranged," said Wenger. "You can say that Manchester United have been extremely advantaged, unexplainably advantaged.
"But that is what we have to cope with. It's difficult to explain why one team plays on Tuesday and the others are all on Wednesday. It is unfair competition. Next week the fixtures are advantaged for Manchester United, who before had a point against Liverpool I supported them when they had a case. But this week, I think Benitez has a case. I do not think you need to be a specialist in football to understand that in this case it's an unfair advantage for Manchester United. Will it have an advantage on the global season? I don't know, you would have to analyse that better. It is not Manchester United's fault, it is not Liverpool's fault. It's the organisers of the fixtures. They have a case to explain."
