Liverpool seek Pennant-Lennon swap
By Soccernet staff

Liverpool's Jermaine Pennant and Tottenham's Aaron Lennon could be switching clubs in January if Reds manager Rafael Benitez has his way.
Benitez will tempt Spurs with the 25-year-old winger plus a £7million sweetener in a bid to lure the diminutive Lennon to Anfield.
Liverpool are keen to offload Pennant as soon as possible, as the player has six months left on his contract and would be able to leave the club for nothing come the end of the season. Even if Spurs refuse to include Lennon in the deal, it is thought Redknapp will pursue Pennant's signature for a fee of £3million.
Both Blackburn and Stoke have shown interest in Pennant in recent weeks, but the wideman has indicated no enthusiasm for a move to either club. A return to London, however, might prove a more alluring prospect for the former Arsenal player, who has struggled to make a significant impact on Merseyside. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is a known admirer, and tried to sign the winger last summer while manager of Portsmouth.
