A couple of good points to sooth our fustration:
- we are still undefeated this season
- we still have not concede an open goal

Hopefully Liverpool can come back stronger than ever after this little blip.

Actually, I'm not surprised. There was plenty of optimism from the start of the season but frankly we didn't look all that different.

We controlled but struggled to find a way past Villa and almost paid the price except for Stevie G.

We were robbed against Chelsea but again, we didn't really create much. Torres's goal was due to a great counter attacking pass out from Gerrard followed by some sublime skill from Torres. Had it been anyone else, we wouldn't even had gotten a shot.

Against Derby, the score flattered us. We barely got behind their defence at all. One lucky free kick from Alonso, two pieces of horrible defending created Torres's goals. Otherwise it would only be 3-0.

Toulouse at Anfield was frankly the only match where we played with any imagination and were passing and moving well on and off the ball.

Our problem seems to be that we have no ideas once we reached the final third. Our setpieces, especially the corners, have no bite. We were too one dimensional. Better now since we have some touches of flair from Torres and flashes of intelligence from Babel, but the job is far from done. But in general, we seemed more interested in a clean sheet and not wanting to win enough

Watching the Portsmouth and Birmingham match reminded me of the bee in Bee Movie trailer trying to get out past a closed window. "If I try this 1000 times, surely there would be once that the object is not in my way!". SO let's keep shooting from a mile away and keep lobbing in those hopeful crosses, long balls and hope something happens.........Reality check; it's not always gonna happen.

It comes down to rafa really. He has the players now. He is very good at building a hardworking, compact team that defends cohesively and is hard to break down. But he seems to have no ideas how to play in the upper third. You look at all the coaching staff he had under him, mostly seemed to be fitness (we have 3 if you count Pako!) and goalkeeper coaches. Only perhaps Alex Miller to work with the attack.

I really think rafa needs to look at working on the teams passing, movement and general attacking play. Actually, I was hoping that he'd bring back Rush to replace Pako. Rush didn't really shine so far as a manager, but he is a striker and he knows the kind of service he would like to get. And he is respected by the players and it is important to give a human face to the team. I do wonder if Ice Goddess Rafa can get through to the players especially now that Pako, the one whom most players say they get along well with, is gone.

Simple rule rafa, clean sheet is important. But leagues are not cups. Clean sheets alone gets you one point. We need 3 and we need them for every game we play. If you want to be a champion, there's no such thing as a good draw. Forget about" we dominated but were unlucky" or "A draw is a good result". Win and win again. No less.

One last thing, he needs to stop being so afraid of the opposition, He tweaks the team all the time to try and anticipate the opposition (just read his match comments- btw rafa, Torres did make a difference when he came on. Skill and pace always does). This is fine if you're playing big teams especially when you're the underdog. But some arrogance is good. You need to believe that you field your best team and play your game, it should be strong enough to impose it's mark on the game. You don't go around second guessing yourself all the time. You do it the best way you know how with the best players you have. Arsenal and Man Utd know that. They impose their will onto a game and play the way the know best and is most comfortable with. Small tactical adjustments to cope with the opposing team's play is fine. but you don't overhaul your team every game depending on who you play.
