BARRY: MY MIND IS MADE UP

Gareth Barry remains desperate to join Liverpool and has blasted Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill for making no effort to persuade him to stay.

The England midfielder has made no secret of his desire for the regular Champions League football on offer at Anfield.

But despite his pleas to the Villa hierarchy to allow him to leave, the midlanders have remained entrenched and rejected a reported £15million bid from the Reds earlier this month.

Barry told the News of the World: "My mind's made up, I want to join Liverpool.

"There's no going back, it's time for me to move on. I'm desperate to play Champions League football and that's why I have to leave Villa."

O'Neill has been openly critical of Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez over his pursuit of the Villa skipper.

But despite O'Neill's public posturing, a scornful Barry insists nothing has been done to get him to remain at Villa Park.

"Villa kept saying they wanted me to stay but I have not heard from the manager for weeks," he claimed.

"It's seven weeks now since the season finished but while the gaffer's found time to be a pundit for the BBC at Euro 2008, he hasn't found the time to speak to me.

"Have Villa offered me anything to try to persuade me my future is at Villa Park, not Anfield? Not a thing."

PLS dun come to Anfield!! we'll be wasting 18m GBP jus to sign u!! OH NO!!! :sticktong

KEANE FOR CROUCH?

Here's an interesting whisper from that most reliable of sources, The News Of The World.

They reckon that Liverpool have noticed Spurs' apparent interest in Peter Crouch, and will propose one of those famous player exchange deals that never actually happen.

The Spurs player in question is a Mr Robbie Keane, who as far as we're aware has shown absolutely no indication that he would possibly want to leave White Hart Lane, but of course these things can change.

Seems unlikely, given that if Spurs were interested in Crouch, it would probably be as a replacement for Dimitar Berbatov, thus they wouldn't want to get rid of their other decent striker in the process.

Liverpool superstar now a Spanish legend

In a tournament that had become known for the amount of goals being scored - it was a single goal that ended a 44-year drought for Spain. Fernando Torres expertly moved around Philip Lahm to score in the 33rd minute giving Spain a 1-0 win over Germany in the Euro 2008final.

It's the first major championship for Spain since the 1964 European Championships that were held in Spain.

Despite the tight score, this was a match (and a tournament) that was dominated by the Spanish. Even in the final minutes, with Germany desperate for an equalizer, it was Spain who were still pushing forward on the attack.

And now that Spain has broken their hex in major championships and with the young talent in their squad, I think we can start calling them one of the favorites in 2010.

VIVA ESPANA!!!!

All Hail Torres!!!
