Liverpool close on Swedish star

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of 24-year-old Swedish star Rasmus Elm, according to reports in the Netherlands.

Manager Kenny Dalglish and chief scout Steve Hitchen travelled to Feyenoord on Sunday to see the AZ Alkmaar midfielder play, according to Dutch newspaper De Telgraaf.

However Elm didn't play in the game after becoming a father the night before.

It is thought that the midfielder will cost Liverpool around 7million euros (£5.7million), and the club hope to complete a deal before he heads to Euro 2012 with Sweden in the summer.
