But Liverpool won't be stopping there. The Guardian goes on to speculate that 'Blackpool's Charlie Adam is still on Liverpool's agenda following a thwarted move in January and a new central defender among the targets. Bolton's Gary Cahill and Phil Jones of Blackburn are under consideration'. The Times takes a look in another area, suggesting that 'Liverpool are keen to sign two top-class wide players during the next transfer window'. Young will be one of the two and the paper reckons 'Liverpool could make a double transfer raid, with Stewart Downing also featuring high on Dalglish's wanted list. Dalglish has identified Downing, 26, as another player, like Young, who has the necessary Premier League experience and talent to go straight into his side'. The Times does like to consider itself all-knowing about Liverpool so it will be interesting to keep an eye on that particular bit of speculation.

huh... the usual LFC way is to say.... "NEXT SEASON WILL BE BETTER" becos we did poorly this season.

i've had enuff of mediocrity! we mux be the best in under 3 seasons!
 

REDS went from languishing in the relegation zone under an unpopular Roy Hodgson, to being only two draws away from finishing the season with a European place. And although Fernando Torres may have broken some hearts along the way, the resurgence under Kenny Dalglish has reminded us of the real Liverpool.

It was a difficult journey, but we can be proud of our turn-around regardless of where we finish from here on.

The paper declares that 'Dalglish's first task this summer will be to find new homes for Anfield's mongrel reserves' and then lists the following players as would-be outcasts:

'Joe Cole, Milan Jovanovic, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Alberto Aquilani, Nabil El Zhar, Paul Konchesky, Fabio Aurelio, David Ngog, Christian Poulsen, Philipp Degen and possibly even Daniel Agger'.

This is proving quite a straightforward transfer gossip to compile because the paper has also, rather helpfully, compiled a list of targets:

'Eight signings are being targeted, with Bolton's Gary Cahill, Lyon's Dejan Lovren and Newcastle's Jose Enrique the most likely defensive reinforcements, two wingers - Ashley Young, Andre Ayew of Marseille and Sylvain Marveaux of Rennes - a central midfielder, possibly Feyenoord's Georginio Wijnaldum, and a striker are expected to arrive.'

That uncle finally managed to knock us off our perch. Must show him, that he did it because KD left LFC and thus gave him time and chance to do it. Now that KD is back, we show him how high the ****ing perch really is.
