Didn't watch the game coz busy with preps and I have to make sure I get as much sleep as possible these few days or else I look like zombie on my big day. LOL.

Haiyahhhhh, how come can buang one!! My dad who watched said meireles no magic leh, but I said, most prob they all tired la. See how next week after they get all the proper rest lor!! But he said Carroll looks promising, he won all the high balls. But until he proves he can convert the headers into goals, he will still be another peter crouch.

Cowmera! U sure only soccer balls? LOL.

Watched that match. The goal came about after Soto's mistake. Clear penalty. But Braga didn't create a lot of chances. Both sides were scrappy at times. But Braga playing at home were able to sort out themselves better once they settled in the game. Liverpool worked hard but lack creativity. And Braga's very discipline offside trap proved to be very effective throughout.

Liverpool didn't play too bad. Just they were flat at the final third of the field. Hopefully Carroll can settle in fast to provide the much needed energy and edge.

They were flat and no creativity. The passes were either from midfield to defender ding donging for a long time or lateral passes in the midfield going no where. They don't know who to pass to to attack and Lucas simply passes the ball back to who ever passes the ball to him :thumbsd: Things started changing after Caroll came in, they now have a target to pass to and the header and knock ons help to improve Liverpool attacking play. Overall nobody shines in this game except Caroll though he is only half fit. I don't see Liverpool going far in this competition simply because they don't have a striker in this competition. Only hope is for Caroll to get fit in time and start scoring goals. Midfield's only hope is for Meireles to up his game as Gerrard is injury prone and the rest just cannot make it  EPL we have Suarez to look forward to but in UEFA Cup we are simply an average team that can only draw away :bheart:

think king kenny set out to defend la.

LFC can today confirm that Steven Gerrard has undergone successful surgery on his groin and will be out for up to four weeks.:(

How true torres...its a good business selling you...

Kadlec keen to join Reds

March 11, 2011

By ESPNsoccernet staff

Bayer Leverkusen left-back Michal Kadlec has said he would welcome a summer move to Liverpool.

Czech Republic international Kadlec, 26, claims Liverpool had scouts present at a game earlier this season and would relish the chance to play in England.

"I know that they were present at our early season game against Dortmund, which we won 2-0, but I don't know whether there has been any progress since then," he said in the Daily Mirror.

"To be connected with such a big club flatters me. Who would not be tempted to play in the Premier League?"

Leverkusen beat Dortmund in August, prior to the arrival of Liverpool's director of football strategy Damien Comolli.

Reds confirm Gerrard blow

March 11, 2011

By ESPNsoccernet staff

Liverpool have confirmed that captain Steven Gerrard will be sidelined for up to four weeks after undergoing surgery to correct a groin injury.

Gerrard missed the club's Europa League defeat to Braga on Thursday and did not even travel to Portugal with his Liverpool team-mates.
He has now been operated on and the club expect him to be absent for around one month.

A club statement on Friday read: "LFC can today confirm that Steven Gerrard has undergone successful surgery on his groin and will be out for up to four weeks. The decision was made following consultation with a specialist."
The news means Gerrard will miss England's Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales on March 26.

Meanwhile, midfielder Lucas says Liverpool must be patient with record signing Andy Carroll, who made his second appearance for his new club in the loss to Braga.
"Andy won every single ball in the air and that gave us a chance to step up,'' Lucas said. "He provides another option because as well as being able to play on the ground we have a target man who can hold the ball and score goals.

"We are happy with what he did against Braga but he has been out for a few months and it would be unfair to put any pressure on him.''

Liverpool to go back for Real Madrid reject this summer

Liverpool will again try to bring France and Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema to Anfield in the summer after Kenny Dalglish missed out on a late move for the Real Madrid player during the last transfer period.

It was reported that Benzema was considered the first replacement for Fernando Torres after it became clear the Spanish player wanted to move to Chelsea. However there was not enough time to strike a deal between the English and Spanish club.

Benzema came through the youth academy at Lyon before graduating to the senior side in 2005. His breakthrough came in the 2007-2008 season when at the age of 19 he scored 31 goals in 51 games becoming top scorer in the French Ligue 1. Benzema was voted player of the season, selected for the team of the year and was short-listed for the Ballon d’Or.

The 2008-2009 season was also impressive with 23 goals in 48 appearances after which he made a €35 million move to Real Madrid. However his time in Spain has been disappointing with 20 goals in 65 games.

Although Liverpool have already strengthened their squad with Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll they are looking to add depth to the squad after a disappointing season so far at Anfield.

Joe Cole remains uncertain over Liverpool future

Published 23:00 11/03/11 By David Maddock

Joe Cole faced up to the reality of his uncertain Anfield future, by admitting last night he must take things 'day by day'.

The England midfielder has endured a tough time since his high-profile move to Liverpool last summer, and already there are suggestions the writing is on the wall for him at the club, with Tottenham rumoured to be a potential summer destination.

Harry Redknapp rivalled the Reds when Cole left Chelsea at the end of last season, and he is believed to be still willing to offer the 29 year old a route out of his current torment, despite being snubbed last time.

After a bright start on Merseyside, a succession of injuries have left him struggling desperately for form and fitness, and Cole has found it impossible to hold down a regular first team place, let alone stake an international claim.

He has been reduced to scrubbing around in the Europa League, desperately hoping for some more minutes on the pitch in a competition clearly viewed as second rate by his club.

For a player of such natural talent and obvious quality, the former Chelsea man has suffered the indignity of making more starts in Europe's second grade competition than in the Premier League. In fact, he has started 10 times in Europe, but incredibly, only six in domestic football.

Given that Liverpool have played their second string virtually all the way through the competition, it does not bode well for his long term future at the club.

And Cole clearly knows that. When pressed about his future on Thursday night after defeat in Portugal to Braga, he admitted that he cannot afford to look beyond the next day, and his body language suggested he may well be on the move shortly.

'The whole set-up, the players are gelling, you can just feel this club's going in the right direction, but for me I will just take it day by day,' he confessed.

'Do I think I made the wrong decision to come here? As I say, it's day by day. I'm proud to play for Liverpool, every day in every training session I am working hard and enjoying myself.

'It has been difficult this season, and I find myself playing these Europa League games trying to catch up, but I am still nice and positive, still myself - I know what a great job it is playing football for a living, but what will be, will be.'

Cole understands the painful irony of his situation. While he is obvious unsure of his next step at Anfield, he also believes the club has now turned the corner towards a brighter future.

Despite the setback in Braga on Thursday, he is convinced Liverpool are heading back towards their rightful place at the summit of English football.

And he believes they now have the right manager, and the right set-up to become one of the Premier League's big guns again, even if he far from he will be part of that potentially glorious future.

'We've got good players, the club is looking really positive, going in the right direction and I am proud to be part of it,' he insisted.

'I just think we have the right man here in Kenny Dalglish, the fans love him. Damien Comolli's come in and brought in some fantastic players, while I know Steve Clarke from Chelsea and I don't think there is a better coach around.

'I am happy, I like the lads, I like the training now, the manager has come in and been a breath of fresh air.

'Of course I still think I can make it here. There's nothing stopping me but I just have to take it day by day, step by step and we'll see where we go.'

Cole was disappointed with the result in Portugal, especially because he believes he should have had a penalty when he was felled by Braga defender Kaka.

But the midfielder is still confident Liverpool can turn the tie around in the second leg next week, especially with the help of Andy Carroll and the inspiration the big striker will provide for the Kop.

'Andy came on and looked a real threat, a real handful. The fans will be really looking forward to seeing him at Anfield and he can make a big difference,? Cole added.

'With the punters behind us at Anfield we will keep going and it will be a big night, and we will see if we can keep ourselves in the competition.

I watched the game and as the clock tick by, I keep asking myself, "Will we become a 1 man team again for the remainder of the season?" Btw, "man"=Luis Suarez, not Stevie G.

The only positive I took from the game is Andy Carroll looks hungry. IMO, too many defensive midfielders fielded. Therefore no creative spark. Not that the team played badly, but when you do not have enough creative spark in the middle, it's going to be tough for the striker. Haiz, why keep Pacheco on the bench?? Let him have a run-out mah.
