this was more hard-fought game than was necessary..
the midfielders need to go forward to support more..
and will need better defenders to compensate for the resulting gaps.

this is the strength of the BPL, any teams can take pts from any teams.

HODGSON COMFIRMS STRIKER SEARCH AMID COLE RUMOURS
Posted 29/08/10 19:32

Roy Hodgson has confirmed that he is in the market for a new striker amid reports Liverpool are holding talks with West Ham about a transfer for Carlton Cole.

According to Sky Sports News, Liverpool made an enquiry about the Hammers striker over the weekend and are now in 'early talks' as they continue their search for extra firepower before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Speaking after the victory over West Brom, Hodgson told Liverpool's official website:

"We've got space to add a player. We'd like another striker, we've said that all along and there's no point me denying it. But we still haven't found the right man and time is running out for us."

HAMMERS REJECT £7M BID FOR COLE

The Mail says that 'Liverpool are willing to offer £7million and have even discussed a straight swap involving Ryan Babel but West Ham want at least £10m straight cash for 26-year-old England striker Cole.'

Bilbao reject Liverpool's Fernando Llorente Torres offer
30 August 2010

Spanish outfit Bilbao have rejected an offer from Liverpool for their striker Fernando Llorente according to local media reports in Spain.

Radio Euskadi claim that Bilbao are willing to continue negotiations with the Reds for the player but that an initial bid has been turned down. Details of that bid are sketchy but there are rumours that we offered cash plus defender Emiliano Insua following talks this weekend and an initial enquiry 2 weeks ago.

There are reports in the UK that claim that our interest in the player "is all over the Spanish press" but this isn't true. The KopTalk editor is in Spain and he has glanced over today's papers and couldn't see anything, although he's a useless git at times so don't hesitate to correct us if he's missed something.

KOPTALK sources claim the Reds are interested in Llorente but were quick to stress this morning (see our earlier article), that such a deal could prove to be complicated. Any deals involving players going in the other direction can be hard to broker for starters and there's not just one medical to be concerned about. There's the player's valuation to consider and the time in which Liverpool have to work to try and conclude a deal.

It is claimed that Liverpool scouts were in attendance at the Jose Rico Perez Stadium to see Llorente score against Hercules on Saturday.

Reports suggest that Bilbao won't allow Llorente to be sold unless they land a replacement first so you'd have to assume that Llorente will miss out on a dream move to England and that Liverpool will have to turn back to Carlton Cole or someone else, now that the transfer window is about to slam shut.

With David Ngog having withdrawn from the France Under 21 squad with a hamstring injury, it's definitely squeaky bum time for Reds boss Roy Hodgson.

However, we're informed that managing director Christian Purslow is hard at work and that the medical team are all on standby for some double-pay.

Meanwhile KOPTALK has been informed that Liverpool have received several loan enquiries today for a number of fringe players.

llorente??
wow... i never know hogson wanted to buy him...
if we got him, don't call him llorente already, we can put "fernando torres & fernando torres" in the front ;)
imagine...

"torres dribbles fast the ball through the centre, pass to torres at the left wings, he runs, manage to trick the back, make a beautiful crossing to torres in the penalty area, torres heads, GOALLLLLLL, TORRESSSSS.... what a fine header by torressss.. what a beautiful cross from torres...."
*confused*

Insua To Galatasary

Current specualtion is that Liverpool left back Emiliano Insua is heading to Galatasary in a deal trying to be clinched before the transfer window closes later today.

The Argentinian has been deemed as surplus to requirements at Anfield this summer and moves away from the club have been in progress since before Roy Hodgson arrived to take over at the helm. The player has so far seen moves to Italy collapse with both Fiorentina and Genoa, even though on arrival at the club Hodgson seemed happy to work with the player, it seems his future elsewhere had already been decided.

The youngster who already has U20, Olympic and Senior honours with the Argentina national team has made 62 appearances for the club, scoring one memorable goal against Arsenal in the process. The defender arrived at the club in November 2006 on an initial 18 month loan deal.

Insua is credited with saying on his Twitter account this afternoon and evening:

“I am waiting for news about my future. eager to play and keep dreaming big!”

“Road to Istanbul in search of continuity, I hope everything goes well!”

Official confirmation on the interest or proposed move is yet to be issued by either Liverpool or Galatasary. News from Turkish sources is that further information is expected first thing in the morning from the club that already have former Liverpool players Harry Kewell and Milan Baros amongst their ranks.
