LIVERPOOL MUST STUMP UP FOR COLE
The Gossip Column has always tended to leave things to the last minute. Deadlines, exam revision, packing - it always ends up going wrong in one way or another, but frankly we never learn, and it costs us.
Liverpool might know how that feels, if the word of The Sun is gospel.
They report that Liverpool are chasing big Carlton Cole, but leaving a bid until the closing weeks of the transfer window could cost them some serious lolly.
The paper reports that West Ham want £20million for their man, a premium being charged because they won't have time to bring in a replacement before the end of August.
"If things happened earlier, maybe the price could have been lower," an 'insider' told The Sun.
LIVERPOOL GETTING BUSY
Also, The Daily Mail make the following announcment:
'Liverpool have agreed a £2m deal with Middlesbrough for goalkeeper Brad Jones and have finalised the £5.5m signing of Christian Poulsen from Juventus.
'Liverpool, who hope to agree a new one year contract with defender Jamie Carragher, 32, this week, have reportedly been offered Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb as a potential makeweight in a deal for Javier Mascherano but the Argentinian is still expected to join Inter Milan.'
