Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has predicted a bright Anfield future for new midfielder Lucas Leiva.

The young Brazilian is set to make his Reds debut against Portsmouth in Hong Kong today but he's already shown enough in training to convince Gerrard that the club have made another shrewd signing.

"From what I've seen of him so far on the training pitch he's got everything you need in a Liverpool player; good touch, good passing and he's also a good lad off the field," said the skipper.

"He's only young but I've no doubt that he's got a bright future at the club and it's good to have him onboard. He's captain of the Brazil under-20s team and so obviously has ability.

"I expect him to be knocking on the door of the first team before too long and hopefully, in time, he can help us win many trophies."

It is good that this time we have a few very promising young players waiting to take over the 1st team.

That will be the ultimate insult. But I don't think Liverpool can afford Tevez now.....

You really wish ah ? :bsmilie:

why not?
let him come! so much competition for the 2 forward slots.... maybe we can loan him to Man City and let him score against MU, home and away.

That is really wishful thinking ;)

we dun mind having talent players in our team but the excess baggage that he carries might be too many and too heavy.

but in any way, his most likely destination has to be manu or west ham.
