so what the problem here man ...... Steve McClaren and Steve Bruce, Gullit and Vialli were all appointed as manager without any coaching license.

..... ...... The only manager in current EPL team who does not do any on field training at all is Alex Ferguson.

.... .... Btw, let me give u another historical statistic.
DUring the first 6 years in MU, Alex Ferguson won nothing.

Man,

I m not here to start anything ....
so i dun need historical facts or statisitics to prove anything!!!
Certainly i m not here to discuss how good is the other teams compare better than Liverpool

If u r not happy about certain opinions .... pm me ... i remove it!!!

Hi Rain forest,

Pls dun get offended. IF u do because of my wordings, I apologise and regret to make u feel so. Nor I am offended of your wordings, no worries.

We are here in the kopitaim, feel free to give our opinion and talk about soccer.

It is ok to give what u think, no dun to PM whoever and ask him to remove the statement he had made.

Dun get me wrong, I am just trying to give few examples and some facts , hopefully to give everyone a better idea. Is not that the statistic and facts give other reader a wider understandings ??

ie, they might not be many people know that Steve McClaren holds no coaching license. In terms of paper qualification, Fandi Ahmad is better than him.

U dun haf to apologise ... i just feel that being a  is being victimised by others too often and for no apparent reasons.

Since this is a Liverpool thread ... we will just talk about Liverpool.

I m still of the opinion that Houllier is one great manager .... and he is there for a reason. ( I believe it is youth development)
It took more than 10 years for Ferguson to develop Scholes, Beckham, Neville Brothers, Butt and others ... so maybe Liverpool is looking at the same things.

likewise if a liverpool or arsenal fan visits a manure thread. ;)

i agree. :)

any new comments...
the team was horrible at st.mary's...
and the faith in owen's penalty taking...sadly... doesn't pay off

very disappointed with the team and the game in whole.

Actually it sounded like we were hard done again as usual. I heard the penalty on the radio and said please don't let him take it, I've always said he's not a natural penalty taker and he's missed plenty down the seasons. Ah well.

I thought someone might dig up this thread again too. Curious how after some of us whinge about El Hadji Diouf not being good enough for the Liverpool team and being a poor buy, that he gets listed by Pele in the 125 best footballers of all time list. And no one posts anything...

Incidentally, don't get me wrong. I'm gutted by this result as well. Aside from this, all other sporting events went brilliantly.

Man City 4, Man Utd 1
Spurs 1, Newcastle 0
England dismiss West Indies for 47 runs, good old Harmy takes 7-12.
Falcons 53, Bees 3, I'm going to Twickers again

Ah well...

I gave up after the first half, went to bed after that, was glad that i didn't stayed for the other half, else today will be a darn lousy day for me.........

the fact that Newcastle lost was the only consolation, with one game in hand, Pools is not too far off from the 4th place....but....so close yet so far.............sigh................

Good for you.

I woke up to watch the 2nd half. Today is going to be a lousy day for me.

wat Pele did, with the poll thing, i believe is strictly a PR exercise. but Diouf is reall an exciting player to watch and he's top drawer stuff. i was hoping Liverpool could make this games-in-hand count...

but Owen must share the blame this time round. my goodness... the penalty was horrible...

Oh yeah, I know it was a PR thing. But come on, we're talking the 125 players of all time. Sure he might not belong there necessarily, but some people don't think he deserves a place in a current Liverpool 11, and here he is being mentioned in the same breath as some truly, truly quality players.

he is quality. but not everyone shares the same opinion about him as is with Houllier.

but he's a striker being played out of position as a right winger. some might find it hard to stomach as that is not his natural position and he's not bought to be a winger. but he's doing really well on the right, making incisive runs and doing some hard chasing and covering jobs.

diouf surprised me with his high work-rate and endless runnings. took some flak but he still come back for more ala milan baros. owen too, missed some came back for more and miss them all.

i am seriuosly sick today.

vomit 2litre blood after owen passed the ball to the keeper again for his penalty kick. so many 1on 1 occasion, he missed it all.

u could actually see that the whole Liverpool squad, besides Gerrard and Baros, were working hard and showing :fighting" mentality, the rest were not performing the way as a Liverpool player.

When we were 1-0 down and Owen missed the penalty, i told my friend we would end up losing the game 2-0. We chased for the equaliser, and pls look at who were playing for our defense. It is Biscan lah.....

The highly rated defender by Houllier at GBP4.5m.

Liverpool has been playing badly for a while and finally, they are whacked.

let's hope this will be the wake-up call.

that horrible sinking feeling... :(

At last, somewhere for me to express my view as a liverpool fan.

Over the pass 3 years, I am hoping every weekend that there will not be a live liverpool match. The reason is that after watching, for almost 90% of the time, I will end up not able to sleep well. Reason, liverpool play like **** and I have to vornmit huge amount of blood. I only manage to catch 30 mins of last night's match and went to sleep immediately after that. I have a feeling that if I catch the entire match, Imay end up sleeping after 4am.

IMO, Hou should go, owen and heskey should also go. I think everyone agrees that Hou should go for that endless list of reasons. As for heskey, I think he is a good for nothing. He is not his usual self anymore. He can jump, but he can't head. He can run, but he cannot shoot. As for Owen, he think he is someone in the league of Ronaldo or Beckham. Fact is, he is not. I think he should go since he thought HE revolves around liverpool, not a good thing. Look at his recent performance, I think that says it all.

For the good of Liverpool, Hou should go immediately. Owen and Heskey should line up behind him!!

IMO only.

well watched the whole match just to irritate myself.

what went wrong?

1. owen , did you guys see the way he hit the post after tha keeper parried gerrards shot. Ok it was fast and he probably coudn't control it . but a striker has to have fast reflexes and after that he launched himself into the air in desperation. aka superman.

owen is fast and has one good foot , his right foot.

for his stature he needs to be able to shoot with his left foot ( his goal against arsenal in the FA cup ). but where has it gone now.

he had 2 good chances on his left foot, one at the end of the 1st half and another from a gerrard pass int he 2nd which he controlled brilliantly.

and of course the penalty.

Houllier should drop owen just for a game or too to wake up his idea.
i think you cannot be always so protective of your players.
and he should stop taking penalties.

2. Igor biscan
he is a nightmare, although he tries quite hard and is very hardworking he is prone to mistake and at this level he is a liability.

houllier could have started with risse on the left and carragher on the right instead. Henchoz is not comfortable on the right and biscan is an accident waiting to happen. ( actually it did twice )

3. diouf

for all his skills and hard work, diouf cannot play down the wings and i suspect he isn't going to do too well in the middle either.

4. going forward

there is a shortage of ideas, and the movement from the strikers is not particularly good. Owen and baros move deep to collect the ball but there is little lateral movement to exploit the passes that gerrard is capable of.

kewell is excellent, although the penalty was a little dodgy. but too often he is left isolated.

personally i think murphy should play , although his work rate and he often loses the ball are mitigating factors. But he is able to play the quick one- two and first time balls that owen and baros can exploit.

sorry for the long mail

has to vent the frustration.

tony

anyone believes in a 4th placing this season?

i can't believe it if we're in 6th placing at the end... it will be like graeme souness's time in Liverpool, where we ended up on 7th placing once.

any saving grace????

actually, i can't believe that i'm asking for only a 4th placing for a club of Liverpool's stature and reputation.

oh well, jus ask Leeds...

that sickening sinking feeling...

we dominated the whole games. Keep bumping the ball to owen and let him take the penalty. all effort being wasted.

finish 4th. Possible, we have 1 game in hand, if we win it, we will 1 point after Charlton, whom is currently 4th seating.

But we should play Owen in reserve. If he can;t even have the scoring instict, no point play him on the EPL.

Even Murphy or kewell can take better penalty than Owen.

stop wasting chance to pass the ball to Owen and hope he will score.

As Rush always say " the first to defend the attack is alwasy the striker".

U can see baros working hard and chasing for the ball.

Owen ??!!??? With all he rumours and his current "fighting spirit", I can imagine he is negotiating a contract outside Liverpool.

When u decided to leave your current job and negotiating a deal with another company, your current performance with existing employer will just be not much different than Owen's.
