oops. was asking rncw. quote wrong post.

I like the overall set of pics feeling is nice, and the model is very at ease.

well...nothing erotic...just a joke between the photog and me...note the "erotic" with quotes, i posted earlier.

hey Tom... you did it again

Tom , mate... its not really a nit pick .. but jsut wanna share this . I look at the pics and i'm just so distracted by her forehead. IS it just me? is it the angle, the shine, the way her hair is combed.. but really her forehead to me is really distracting.

Anyone share this view?

i also wanted to not say this, but I think the reason her forehead looks odd, is coz she has a high forehead, and is a prime candidate for the hottest hairstyle of the season, Bangs!!! :D

ya it draws our view to her forehead

Well, everybody relax:) This is a leisure photography session between an never-posed-before model and an amateur photographer who is mostly comfortable with candid portraiture. We have tried our best. If you have comments on my photos, welcome to speak out. On the other hand, if you want to comment my model, would appreciate it if you could PM me. I think Lin Xi has done a great work, considering she is a very natural girl and does not like to do make-up sort of thing...

Great shots Tom.

Enjoyed the series thoroughly. Lin Xi and the whole series looks very natural. Tomshen skillz and post-processing rocks! :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

I guess that some of the people commenting didn't realise who your model is, despite the evidence presented. Oh well... :dunno:

haha .. not picking on your model, but its quite distracting. that's all, jus no one said anything and thought i was the only one feeling this way. But as photographers , we have a job of using the the good stuff and downplaying the "distracting" bits.

Now she's a natural right .. and i think u got it spot on. U made her feel comfortable and she has a nice playful smile. Excellent. But u think anything could have been done to play down that high forehead?

to your model > Excellent job for the first time!

Hi Tom ,

Very nice pictures there . I particularly like the one when lin xin was doing some hand signals on the coke machine :)

For the rest of the shots , certain corners looks over-exposed and flushed . Is it meant to be that way ? Just some personal comments

Very frank POV here;

In light of the circumstances, i would say it's a nice try. :embrass: Not meant to have my comments comes across offensive, so please don't take it that way.

Tomshen, since she is new, i guess she would be more at ease if you ever shoot her again? :)

My other point of contention would be outfits since wearing a pleated/ checkered skirt doesn't exactly look the part of a runner. In fact, having her pose in the starter's position is quite odd.

Keep shooting. :)

Hi, coca88: I think overexposure is not an issue in some cases. Sometimes it's a personal preference. I can avoid overexposure by lower down the contrast, but I didn't do it in this case for a sporty model.

Wolf: I think nobody will serious believe she is a runner or whatsoever. She is just sort of a school girl doing some activities in campus. That's what we planned to achieve. Actually I left the outfits issue for her to decide, meanwhile she had no idea what I would portrait her before we met in the morning. To me her dress code was fine.

The full series is on my site. Here are some highlights.

Tom, the pose is awkward for a girl in a skirt. Just thought you might want to take notice of this...

BTW, you must have been using one of those yellow line markers that lead into a straight, could have used one of the white lines instead. the yellow line is a little distracting, because of the strong colour.

I see most model shoots have the models skin white and soft, not like those we usually take whereby too much facial features i.e moes and freckles....How did you all do that??? Is it make up or wad? I wanna learn potraits too. Think that its the most difficult category next to photo journalism and sports....

PSed her pimples, "smart edge sharpening" to ensure only the edges are sharp. For close-ups, soft-effect. Other adjustment is according to my own taste in colors/contrast. etc.
