(1) Both photos are a bit lacking in sharpness. If its because you have a cheaper digicam, then you can't do anything about it. Otherwise work on sharpness
(2) Backgrounds are ok. I think both photos can do with more DoF, but thats a matter of taste.
(3) Composition basically ok. But try different angles for photo 2 which may improve it further.
(4) Photo 2 colour balance seems off. Purplish-cast compared to photo 1
