LightStand

Has anyone used the Interfit 8.5 ft Air Cushioned Light Stand from MidWest? Am looking for a light stand with similar specs and air cushioning. Need it for some strobist and not very serious work...so my budget is only around $50.

wow!
so many types, but same use...

just a quick ques.

can anyone recommend me a portable lightstand which is decent and cheap?

To phoakm :
I am very interested with Manfrotto 420B for holding the lighting, very usefull for me (after watching the youtube that you shared). At this thread you said “I now using this”, is that referring to Manfrotto 420B? if yes, may I know where did you buy it, and how much did it cost? I’ve just asked Cathay Photo at Peninsula, they said at this time they didn’t provide Manfrotto 420B might be next month they would provide it. Hopefully you don’t mind to share me some information about that, thanks a lot ;p

Yap had been using Manfrotto 420B for weeks. Simply love the product. I bought it online from B&H. Price of the lightstand is stated in the web. I think less than USD $200 including shippment.

Cathay Photo won't be bringing in the product unless the item is marketable. I normally will get the product online with advantange of availability and priority. The main disadvantage is the price. Buying local has a disadvantage of wait for months for the item, but of course sometime you may get cheaper price. Do the balance. :)

A bit more on the product. Manfrotto 420B is a transforming stand. It can be used as a normal lightstand mode with maximum 3.9m tall. It can be converted to boom mode easily by pressing down the latch. This gives great advantages:

1) Less items to carry around. (Normal boom setup you need: lightstand + boom arm + boom mount)
2) It can adjust the lighting at lower height. (in boom mode)
3) Can be a tripod by adjusting the boom arm to horizontal position and use appropriate clamps.

Will be using this product for coming weekend shoots with combi of softlight reflector.

anyone knows where to get 5-section light stands (e.g. Lumopro LP604) that are really compact? Shipping charges from midwest is really expensive at around US$ 40+

The Manfrotto Nano light stand is about $100+/- in CP last I checked about 6 mths ago. Not sure if price increase.
I ordered 2 LP604 with 2 LP634 and a Westcott umbrella from mpex. The total price add together is still cheaper than buying the same setup here locally, just that of course locally you get Manfrotto.

Fyi, CP is selling for $105. Just bought one last month.

just wondering abt the 420B, its a combi boom stand meaning the boom portion can be retracted into the main shaft? the manfrotto website doesn't state clearly..

Hey J Chan where can i get the light stand like yours? Its so small and you can put it on your bag left and right. Its so portable!

I did not compare the price lah. :bsmilie:
Anyway, I bought my first lightstand from Ruby, but coincidence is also a nano stand.
