very interesting...
alot like playin with sparklers... but it sure is difficult writing in the opp direction
u did a great job drawin the devil

Thank K!

wow! i'm impress...

bro, few questions:

1) 'bulb' mode means you need cable release?
2) you use the touch light and write while facing the camera? stand how far away? that means, you actually between the subject and the camera?

Yes, or unless you have someone else to press and hold the shutter for you. My other grown up princess was just resting and sitting, watching me and this little devil do our thing so a shuttle release was used.

i was using a white LED torch. I used a 10-22mm, around 3 meters away from the camera i guess. The camera was tripo-ed up on the first step at the Singapore Flyer. You have to shine the torch at the camera of course. i was behind the little devil princess and drawing kinda blind, so pratice and picture what you wanna draw in mind before trying. ;)

So cute

Thanks!

Great job!!! I saw it in a magazine too... I think u will start a new trend!! A bet everyone who saw this is going to try it someday!!!... Excellant effort!

Everyone should! It's fun and i bet anyone will perspire a little. It's healthy haha

I didnt start anything. Lightpainting has been around for a long time. What really got me into it was the ad strobist posted sometime ago on the Sprint advertisement. It's on youtube i believe. Now, M1 in singapore is doing it too it seems but at a lower level compared to the ads sprint put up. See the Sprint ad then search for the "making of". I love the way the director said, it's not about the perfection of things, it's about the imperfection since there's CGI and Pixar and all around. I think we've forgotten sometimes, it;s about having fun more than trying to have something perfect.

Thanks for the fabian light link. Hope to try something about that someday.

did u switch off and on your lights while writing the i love you?

because i was trying whether i am able to switch on and off my lights to leave a spacing between words

how do yu draw without you being in the picture? *quite puzzled*

he had to constantly move quickly and draw so that the shutter wouldn't be able to catch him! am i right? abit lay man explaination..hehe paiseh.

yes. you have to off and on the light in order to not let the words be "linked".

that's is absolutely correct! keep moving and not shine the light on yourself, you wont appear in the final pic.

I have a link somewhere, doing the light painting is easy somewhat but doing it and having a subject well lit with the light paint still around is something i want to try.

sounds quite chim...mayb i'll try soon =) thanx btw

Wao i like your pic of your little girl:thumbsup:, it must be real hard work planning how to draw behind her. I bet she must be laughing all the way:bsmilie:. I tried doing 1 in my room with the lights off, took abt 30 shots to get all the spacing n words right!! Guess now that i got it right, its time to move out of the house to try something else!!

nice "Sharon". heheh I think, don't make the background totally dark, as in don't have an aperture of f/22 or something like that, use something more modest like f/8 to f/11, it makes sense to be able to see the background even if it's just your room or your own outline. It makes the light painted pic more light painted in feeling. If not, it really looks really photoshop. Hope i am making sense. :bsmilie:

I started with words and letters too before the "Devil" and "Car" ones. Let's keep this running, i bet someone will turn really creative!

Here's my contribution! My first attempt so I just spelled my name.

nice one! like the above, with the background lit nicely (play around with the shutter speed/ apeture and iso and find something optimum) we can see it's a basketball court and the words line up nicely! it's more interesting than a dark background.

now you are making me wanting to try more! haha let's see how timing goes...

Thanks! Looking to try out more this weekend. I find it a great help to take a shot first to see how the background will be like. Easier to picture how your light painting will figure in.

did this sometime ago, in my room...

hahaha! . . . of all the words to write . . . you wrote that :bsmilie::sweatsm::kok:

...and no, this is not for guy above I went photo shooting with! hahaha we're straight guys. hhahahahaha

I don't think she'll be surfing clubsnap so safe to post i guess...Need a bigger LED touch! the wordings were too light.
