Buying a light meter is a little like buying a "cuckoo clock" - for more $, you can get the next higher spec'd model.

I likes your description .. :bsmilie:

i will offer an option with a cheapo trigger. at the subject's position, with one hand holding the flashmeter and another holding the trigger. in detail, using one hand, position the flashmeter where you want it read and, with the other hand, press the test button on the trigger to activate the flash/es. you got it! no straggling cables. one man operations.

Basically, what I am looking for is the "non-cord" flash metering, basically what that means is that I can click the flash meter and leave it at the sport I want to meter and fire my studio flash without having connecting the flash to the light meter.. I hate cables..

Some is more fancy which has remote radio controller which can fire your studio flash.

Is the polaris dual 5 any good?

i have not use this meter. however, if you are beginner with studio flashes and using hand held meter, i reckoned this is adequate.
