Light leak problem?

Hi there, I think I need help to solve some light leaks problem or is it something else?. I've just got my first roll of film developed and I've noticed some orangey-brown vertical lines on "some" of the photographs, not all (approx 11/32 frames). And one more thing, I've also observed some white ghosting effect on the right side of frame. Is there something I could do (diy kinda thing) to solve this problem? please help. I'm using a yashica fx-d quartz btw.

here's some of the examples stated above:

Hi maverickd i posted a similar thread recently at

According to some replies, u need to check your negatives. If the streaks appear only on the image portion then its a shutter problem.

If it appears at your sprockets too means its a light leak. I repaired my light leaks by purchasing a light seal kit from a wellknown ebayer. Google light seal kit and his name should be the first few links.

Hope this helps.

Hi hydroburn249, thanks for the reply. Yup I saw your thread before I posted mine but I did notice that your pictures only suffers from the white colour leak and not the orangey-brown vertical streak. Hmm pardon my lack of knowledge but how do I check if it appears on the the sprocket region as well?

But yeap, I'll just give the light seal kit a try:)

no problem glad to help.

well if the streaks appear on the square holes of the sprockets on your negatives, then its confirmed a light leak.

I've just checked the sprocket region that you've mentioned and yes light leaks were evident too. Thanks alot:)
