No way should Liverpool buy Criag Bellamy!! He is too arrogant for Liverpool and for his own good. He is one of the most self centered player in EPL and buying him will create discord among the players and managers.

CRIAG BELLAMY IS ONE BIG MISTAKE. BUY HIM AT YOUR OWN RISKS!!!!!

i think the board's buying him..

seems quite divided among fans as to whether he should be signed. 4million quid seems a good deal though. maybe we can bundle in nunez!! hohoho!!!

Hi all,

IMHO, Bellamy is a good short term stop gap player. He can provide the width and speed that is lagging in Liverpool's play in recent months. If Morientes do get back his form, with Bellamy and Baros on both wings will be solid. On hind sight, Bellamy's attitude and temperaments can be bad for the team. To see Liverpool get back to winning ways and the coverted fourth CL spot and keep Gerard, this is an attractive option I would say. But this will be a huge gamble.........sigh...

No need to be depressed lah. You win some, you lose some. Chelsea have been on cloud nine for too long. Time for reality check. Just hope that Liverpool will bring them thumbling down to earth. :bsmilie:

Err, no, I'm not saying we should sign him, just adopting the terrace chants, that's all. I actually quite rate him as a player (on the field only, but then again he gets in tantrums on the pitch too), but I don't want him for Liverpool because we already have his kind of striker; in theory anyway, he would be way too similar to Baros and Flo-Po although obviously now Flo-Po is crocked as well. Morientes *in theory* is the ideal foil for the other strikers (including Cisse).

Just in the interests of equality then:

Ruud van Nistelrooy, tra-la-la-la-la; Ruud van Nistelrooy, tra-la-la-la-la-la. (Repeat ad nauseum)

Big Sam Allardyce, tra-la-la-la-la; Big Sam Allardyce, tra-la-la-la-la-la. (Repeat ad nauseum)

And truth be told, those are the only three erm, characters I can remember to that tune, although in theory you could fit most five syllable names in there.

Or, come to think of it, four syllable names with a single syllable first name and repeat the first name a la Bellamy style. Or...

interesting article but not a really fair comparison. i'd admit though that an hard driving player like gerrard can disrupt the rythm of a team, especially one lacking in confidence. he often tried to do too much. but i think all in all, gerrard is an inspirational player and when he does well, he can do a lot for a team. though, i must say that i feel alonso is slightly more vital to the team. alonso makes the whole team tick by directing the play like a conductor of a symphony. gerrard meanwhile drags the team forward with his energy. when we have them both playing , i think things will come together very nicely indeed.

I wouldn't really say Alonso's better than Gerrard (just yet). We've seen about 10-15 games from him, I can think of a good number of players who looked good for that number of games before fading into mediocrity. Even Josemi looked good for about half a dozen games... I'm not saying Xabi's not a good player, I reckon he is, but to say he's better than Gerrard is a VERY strong statement. Perhaps Xabi makes the team tick and possibly we don't end up in these situations, but for countless times the last couple of seasons it has been Team A v Steve G.

I think both are holding different roles in the club. Alonso as the holding midfielder and Gerrard as the attacking midfielder.

I think for England, his role is reversed. He takes on the holding midfielder role while Lampard is the attacking midfielder.

Its like Keane and Scholes, Makelele and Lampard for their respective clubs. :)

I think Gerrard and Liverpool is called a one man team cos he is the best attacking player in the club. No one comes close to him. The closes i think is Kewell but i dunno what happened to him. :dunno:

Kewell was really good when he was a Leeds player. Don't know why he didn't perform as well as what he did at Elland Road. :dunno:

True. Keane and Scholes, Makelele and Lampard. But Gerrard and who? :dunno:

When was the last time Chelsea lost? It was a goal by Anelka. Man City won 1-0.
Lets hope Chelsea start to fall soon. Or else.... they would be unstoppable.

Liverpool to sign yet again another GK??

22yrs old Pepe Reina from villareal!

sell dudek sell sell sell!!

i wouldn't mind seeing kirkland goes too. he has too many fans in the physio's room. :bsmilie:

I agree on this statement.

Alonso is a good player.

Gerrard is not a good player but also a team leader.

When Gerrard plays, he shows his commitment to fight the club victory, his appearance make the opponent worry when they see his name on the list, his impact to boost up the morale and spirit on the team mates. he made tackle that Alonso doesnot. He covers up and down and challenge everywhere.

Good player like Alonso is replacable...but Good captain that really can captain the team that earn everyone respect is hard to find.

me too.

Reason 1 - he seems not to learning much after 3 years. his performance was not convinced, ie dive but not moving to concede everton goal, stand still and Olympiakos and Villa scored from the freekick...etc..

Reason 2 - We had him more time in the injury list, playing for reserve than playing in the 1st team..

Reason 3 - May be if we want a backup..Scott Carsen should do the job as the 2nd keeper.

the good thing is that once they meet their first defeat, it'll really put a damper to their momentum.

it's quite a pyschologically kick in the ass to lose after going undefeated for a long period.

look at arsenal's recent unbeaten run (from previous season mind you) they're still up there, but they lost a couple more times after their record unbeaten streak was halted.
