Cheesecake said:agree with u on the views abt Josemi. i just keep my fingers crossed that he'll buck up and jusitfy his 2million quid tag.
pellegrino for sure has a role to play. maybe benitez wants him to play as a sweeper. haha or a libero!!
most prob as a substitute or a centreback and shift carragher to right back.
talking abt EeeeeeeGor.... where's he now?? did he offended benitez? i can;t believe that Diao keeps getting selected ahead of EeeeeeeeGor!!
diao must be a witchdoctor!!!! hohoho
nemesis32 said:i think Rafa has done very well in view of the new signings not settling in yet, numerous injuries, playing players signed by Houllier, departure of 3 senior strikers (owen, heskey and diouf).
wong_se said:u are right..i share the same sentiment too. even Carrager praised Rafa that he did not mourn or blame the injuries, the tight schedule and the referee. he just put his down to more harder with the player.
8-Jan - FA Cup vs burnley.
11-Jan - 1st leg of the semi -final..vs Watford.
15-Jan - vs MU
btw...pls read this article It shared some of the comments that I made in my earlier post about Diao (why he was there to play), Nunez (unbelievable lousy) and garcia (fancy passing but seldom the ball seldom reach his player) in the game vs Norwich.
Jed said:Strange, I said that about Garcia after I watched his first game...
nemesis32 said:Liverpool is lucky that we have a core group of players that played their hearts out so that some of the error-prone players are not being punished. Players like Gerrard, Hamann, Hyypia and Carragher covered their a$$ more time than i can remember.
nemesis32 said:Players like garcia, nunez, sinama and diao must make sure they don't lose possession too easily. Eventhough i think we have improved, i think our attack so far is very 1-dimensional, pumping in long balls from the right to Riise on the back post seems to the play, every play.
Liverpool have today confirmed they will be without the services of both Xabi Alonso and Chris Kirkland for the next three months.
Alonso needs an operation to repair the broken ankle sustained against Chelsea on Saturday while Kirkland will undergo keyhole surgery on Friday to cure a back problem.
The news comes as a bitter blow for manager Rafael Benitez who has already had to contend with a series of long term injuries to key players this season.
Benitez had hoped that inspirational midfielder Alonso would only be sidelined for six weeks but a specialist yesterday confirmed he needs a screw inserting into the fracture in his left ankle in an operation which will keep him out for three months. That surgery will take place tomorrow.
Kirkland also faces a similar length of time in the treatment room after it was decided he needs keyhole surgery on a disc in his lower back.
Liverpool Head of Press Ian Cotton confirmed: "Both players require operations and will be out for three months."
Liverpoolfc.tv present 12 facts about our new Argentine defender from Valencia Mauricio Pellegrino.
Mauricio is the first Argentine to play for Liverpool.
He was born in Argentina on 5th October 1971.
He can't play in the Champions League for Liverpool after a substitute appearance for Valencia against Weder Bremen. When defender Carlos Marchena was sent-off coach Claudio Ranieri wanted more defensive stability and brought Pellegrino on in the 57th minute. Valencia lost the game 2-1.
He started his career playing in Argentina for CA Velez Sarsfield.
He played over 200 games for the club winning three Apertura titles and two Clausura titles and a number of international honours, including the Copa Libertadores and European/South American Cup in 1994.
In 1998 he moved to La Liga to play for Spanish giants Barcelona. He made 23 appearances as Barcelona won the league title under Louis van Gaal.
In 1999 Pellegrino was snapped up by Valencia and instantly began to form a impressive partnership in central defence alongside fellow Argentine Roberto Ayala.
He played in two Champions League finals for Valencia only to finish on the losing side twice to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Unfortunately Pellegrino missed a penalty in the final against the Germans.
In 2001/02, under the management of Rafael Benitez Pellegrino helped the Mestalla side to their first Spanish championship since 1971.
He didn't have much luck last season in 2003/04 when a dislocated shoulder and the form of Carlos Marchena kept Pellegrino on the sidelines and he made just 16 starts as Valencia won back the Spanish title.
Mauricio was a substitute in the UEFA Cup final victory over Olympique de Marseille, coming on in the 86th minute, Benitez's last match in charge of Valencia.
In Spain, the tall Pellegrino was nicknamed 'El flaco', meaning skinny. Back in Argentina he has the more imaginative description of 'El longanizas' - which is a long pork sausage.

i hope biscan doesn't go. we need him more than ever now...certainly more than we need diao. so now we have kewell, cisse, alonso, baros and kirkland out, not to mention josemi (which is not necessarily bad). sigh, you'll never crock alone?

wong_se said:free and experienced ?? may be  may be :thumbsd: if he is another Josemi.
I welcome him and hope the best he can deliver.
Losing ALonso for 3 months !!! and after he need 2-4 weeks to gain back match fitness and sharpness. That will be 3-4 months.. and he will only come back by may.. Season almost over liao...
Shiitt...although Lampard had apologized, I could not forgive him now. Please raise fund here and I will contact british secret agent to assassinate him.
this is something about LFC. I really could not remember since when and who the victim was when Liverpool player accidentally and/or intentionally broke his leg.
But i could have remembered so mercy we are that so many LFC legs have been broken since the last 5 years.
No wonder u either hear there are Liverpool or non Liverpool fans..but seldom u hear that people hate Liverpool.
not like our rival...there are more anti-Mu fans than MU fans.

nemesis32 said:Players like heggem (rem him? one of our best norway import before riise), Rednapp (best england midfielder that never fulfils his potential), Fowler (best england and liverpool striker), Berger (best czech midfielder, yes, at 1996 Euro, he is better than Nedved) and lots of others in recent years like Kirkland (he at liverpool for 4-5 years but still less than 100 appearances i think), Nunez (injured immediately after transfer from Real Madrid), Cisse (our supposedly no. 1 striker after mickey mouse, out for 1 full year), Alonso (out for 3 months), Hamann (out for couple of months before season starts), Henchoz (out for almost 1/2 a season one or 2 season back), Kewell (out for injuries on and off since transfer from Leeds, just pray he dun become Rednapp II). Heck, even Gerrard (back injuries in his earlier days, broken metasal or something recently) and Mickey mouse (constant hamstring problems that robs him of his speedy runs, noticed he never break thru offside traps as often as his early years before injuries)
wong_se said:this is very true..and u also missed out Babbel..who suffer some kind of stranger virus that attack him until he can hardly move a finger.
i dun think the pitch is bad or we have been cursed. it must be the player size and injury tolerance level. All are them u mention are very thin and not muscular. Look at Heskey, Diouf, Diao, Hamann, Robert Song, Titi Camera...all seldom injured..
Talk about heskey..i feel very sayang to let him go. I believe LFC sold him to make way for Cisse. Although he might not score lots of goals (he might be asked to do so under Houllier regime), he seldom give away possesion easily. Had he started the game as alone striker rather than Sinama against Chelsea, there would be more chances and holding back the ball in around the box. In terms of size, header, able to survive under tackle, he is one of the best.
nemesis32 said:If you noticed abt the injuries... it's usually the native europeans that gets injured more easily. I think it's true that genetically, the blacks or african or afro (trying hard to be politically correct) are the stronger brunch. You hardly see players like Viera and Henry injured but player like Zidane and Nedved gets injured more?
