Actually, got 1 more.....Steve mecca! In their time, only he and Giggs can leave defenders sitting on their ass on the pitch.

Oh, United is upgrading Old Trafford. Additional 7900 at a cost of 45M pounds. 67,000 + 7900 = 76,000 seats. It will be the 2nd largest stadium behind Wembley (90,000) and the largest football club stadium in UK. The additional 7,900 seats could net the Red Devils £5million per season.

Cardiff's Millennium Stadium holds 72,000 people and Arsenal's new ground at Ashburton Grove is set to accommodate 60,000 supporters.

What about Liverpool? No news yet? All i know is they dun wanna share with Everton.

Yep. The no. of seats in a stadium can make quite a huge difference in the revenue earned from tickets sold for a game. That's where Liverpool loses out cos the stadium doesn't hold enough seats IMO. I'm sure Liverpool won't have any problems selling out their stadium.

erm..
i dun care abt manutd and how sensational their player/s is/are and how big their stadium is goin to be and how much revenue they are goin to bring in.

i wish them all the best this season in chasing Chelski though.

now, the main reason why i post here... LIVERPOOL!!!!!

Liverpool is waiting for clearance to really start building a new stadium with a capacity of 60000+-. or maybe 50000+-.

i hope that in time to come, we'll get our clearance and maybe a new stadium in a few donkey years time. yeah!! :)

the capacity of New Anfield is 60,000
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/newstadium/

be nice to get even larger capacity but there comes a point when the cost of the stadium would be greater than your profit from the gates and it'd take years to break even. if you're like man u and have the spare cash, it's worth the wait but even the cost of this stadium is bleeding us badly.
maybe we can start selling prawn sandwiches like man u? :bsmilie:

nowadays, tv, merchandising and sponsorship are also major money spinners for major clubs. i just hope we can get a good sponsorship package for the coming seasons. any idea anyone taking over the carlsberg sponsorship?

from liverpoolfc.tv
at least the academy kids will get a chance. we shouldn't have any problems so far if we list mellor, gerrard, carra and warnock (another reason for us to really pray stevie g stays). we still have carson and kirky who fits into the next category.

Liverpool will have to include at least four home-grown players in their 25 man squad for European competition from 2006 following an announcement by UEFA today.
UEFA also intend to take the rule further by insisting on six homegrown players in European squads in 2007 and eight in 2008. Of the eight, at least four must be trained by the club's own academy and the other four trained within the same national association.

UEFA defines a club trained player as one who has been registered for a minimum of three seasons with the club between the ages of 15 and 21.

Europe's governing body also wants the plan to be introduced into domestic leagues, but that will need agreement from each individual national association. This will be voted on by the 52 member associations at a meeting in Estonia in April.

Dun look down on gate fees man. The additional 7900 seats can earn 5M pounds for Man Utd. It will be similar for Liverpool i guess. Arsenal's stadium cost them more than 300 plus million pounds. To competitive in Europe and England, a club like Liverpool needs a much larger stadium. Newcastle already got a 58+++ seater. But of cause, must be able to fill the seats consistantly, if not also no use. :)

i agree man, the money is very good.

and i don't doubt we can fill the seats but remember, we need to spend before we earn. imagine if liverpool builds a 300 million 80,000 capacity stadium. we maybe earn 10 mil more per match. taking into account the upkeep, etc, it'd probably be a couple of years before we cover the cost and start earning money. man united can afford to wait cos they have a hefty bank balance to sit on. but liverpool needs the money on the field. we need new players and better youths in order to stay competitive. already, this current stadium is bleeding us and left rafa with much less to spend. if we have no cash to spend for the next couple of years, i do fear for the team. remember leeds? they got too big too fast. if liverpool had the spare cash, i would hope they build a much larger stadium. but as of now, we can barely afford New Anfield :dunno:
sigh....it's all about money these days. kinda sad.

ha ha. now you reminded me. last time i play championship manager, i always schedule lots of home friendlies even in mid-season so i can earn money. then cos i can't spare my first team players, i'd dig up whoever who is not important and field them. got trashed by bayern once when i fielded 3 goalkeepers in defence :bsmilie:

Liverpool Vs Fulham tml. :bsmilie:

Of cause Liverpool will have no problems filling a stadium of 60,000. I was refering to Juventus, whom play in a 70,000 seater but only got a average attendence of 20+++. Thats a joke man. :bsmilie: But then, they're the best supported club in Italy, just that they're based in Turin and its fans are spread all over the country.

How Arsenal pay for their stadium? Thru loans and sponsors. Ashburton Grove will be the Emirates stadium for 10 years for a fee of 100M pounds. A stadium is an investment for the future. Can't earn back the money in a few seasons la. Man Utd may be rich but 45M is no small sum, they still gotta take loans i guess. This kinda thing, no one pays in full i think....maybe Roman will. :bsmilie:

Haha, Pre-season friendlies are money spinner. I always field the youth or reserve players. Sometimes B team.

I always cheat a little. You know, after a season, when your average attendence is near the limit of your stadium's capacity, the board will approve and increase the stadium capacity.

I always save the game before they decide, then continue. I will settle at a 5000 increase or more. Sometimes, lucky, can get a 9000 seat increase. Any less, i will reset and try again! :bsmilie:

Its not like Man Utd Vs Liverpool based on gound size but more on the money a larger stadium can generate. A bigger stadia, means can seat more people, thus earning more gate fees. Of cause, a larger stadium give bragging rights but it will be pointless if you can't fill it. :)

Most of the big clubs competiting in the CL have stadiums of at least 50,000 or more. The Nou Camp can seat 98,000. Santiago Bernabeu can take 80,000. The San Siro takes 85,000 while the Olympiastadion seats 69,000.

The English stadiums are smaller compared to the rest. Of the 4 competiting clubs in CL, only Old Trafford is the optimal size to maximise profits. Anfield=45 000, Stamford Bridge=42,000 and Highbury=38,000. This is partly due to the age of the stadiums, demand and space constrains. Even England have space constrains. Eg, the south stand of Old Trafford cannot be expand due to railway tracks behind it. For Highbury, there are houses surrounding it, thus the need to move to Ashburton Grove. Its the same for Anfield i guess. Max limit due to space constrains.

And to host UEFA and European tourney, one of the selecting citeria is stadium size. FIFA world cup stadiums had to be at least 40,000 in capacity. The UEFA european championships; 30,000 in capacity. Not sure bout CL and UEFA tourney. Most of the time, the finals are held at stadums of 60,000 and bigger.

Based on a quick calculation. If Man U can earn 5m quid on 7900 seats and their new stadium is 76000, or 1600 more than our new stadium, they will earn 10m quid more than Liverpool and Arsenal!... The divide is getting bigger....

I think LG is taking over as main sponsor after Carlsberg... i read it somewhere and posted it here b4.

Just imagine our new stadium call the LG Stadium ... kinda rhyme with LOUSY!! :)

Thats why a larger one is essential to remain competitive. And this is just based on estimates on stadium only per season. Did not factor in TV coverage, sales and marketing etc. It is marketing that makes Man Utd rich. Real Madrid is going this way too. Even Everton is making inroads into China. Chelsea have Peter Kenyon and Roman, so no worries. :) The current capacity of Anfield is 45,000. This is what Old Trafford was 10 seasons back. Notice the progress and difference.

BTW, LG dun sound too bad la. Generally, the companies interested in football are quite reputable and have nice brand names. See, its branding again. As long as its not Durex. :bsmilie:

LG is good, but I would prefer Samsung.....
:bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:
(In term of Korean brands)

Hee hee

yeah..................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
