I already rest my case. Since you bring it up again, I would like to ask you where did it mention that Baros regretted not moving to Barcelona?

I read thru the report a few times it only mentioned that Baros said he got 2 dreams, one to play in EPL and one to play for Barcelona. He said if Barcelona were interested to buy him, he would go. Else he would stay and do his best. I don't see anything wrong in that. At least he is honest with his intentions, not like a certain u know who.

You said he was always mourning about not being able to play for Barcelona. I asked for the reports, you provided only one. That is the one during pre season. May i ask again where are the other reports?

I always take the reports with a pinch of salt, unless if they are official reports from the web sites. I'm not sure whether you are aware that these days they have reports from the media in the official web site.

hmmm... Baros did mourn and groan. still remember that he displayed his displeasure at not playing enough first team games last season under Rafa. i remember reading them from soccernet.com and when rumours arises that Barca is interested in him, he immediately declared his intention to play for the club. wow...

and now only supposedly lesser clubs are in the market for him, he decided to knuckle down and work his socks off again. for love of the club? or of the manager?

Rafa will sell him at the earliest possible enquiry from other clubs, no doubt. he will use the ££ to buy a good center-back.

Zak Whitbread is too far off the mark, currently.

definately it can't be classied as "moaning" or "regret".

To be able to classify as "moaning" or "regret", u need to have the wordings of "moaning" or "regret"..

For example..."I shot with him 5 times on his head with my gun until he could not move."

but I didnot kill him. U see..there is no wordings of "kill" is being used here.

aiyah...

small thing. no need to argue. our opinions might be divided over alot of issues involving the club and players, but in the end, we all wish for LIVERPOOL to excel!

no harm done and no worries! u all are still my fellow LIVERPUDLIANS!!

go go! YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE!!!!!

can't wait for the return league of the Qualifiers' in ANFIELD!!!;)

got 'LIVE' or not?? pay for ESPN channel one leh... ha!

That's funny. Not referring to you cheesecake :D

it should be 'Live' once again.

They are showing alot of Liverpool games this time round, but maybe that's because the other teams havent started playing yet.

ha!

its ok la! no offence at all...

in fact, i can see the passion from the supporters here! esp. LIVERPOOL SUPPORTERS... ke ke ke

yeah! its a good thing LIVERPOOL starts these competitive games earlier than the rest, in a way, we get to be match fit and we get into our stride much faster! however, we might lose steam comes middle of the season... but, a good start is important. in between there'll be slight bumps here and there, and then a strong finish to cap it all off!

Baros is not crap player...he scored 15 goals for us last season...A player who scored 15 goals is not a crap player..just like heskey who scored average 15 goals is not crap player.

but Baros style does not suit the Liverpool...

He is the best (i wrote this quite sometime ago) at out and out striker. He has any eye for goal and is very alert to score...if he is in the box..Only in the box.

However...there must be someone who feed him the ball..like Koeller feed Baros, heskey feed Owen, Sheringham feed cole/york etc..

In Liverpool....he should always be playing in the box...but not to carry the ball by himself and run like headless chicken...

And because he continued to run like headless chicken and his style does not invite the team into the play....Rafa had no choice but to sell him....

If U were Rafa, and u need additional 7 -8m to buy a CD... how would u finance that > which player u would sell to get 7m or how many players u want to sell in order to get 7m ?
I do not think it's incompatibility as well... Crouch can play similar role to Koeller, see how he sets up cisse for 1st goal...

Like i say, i dun think Baros is hardworking.. he may run and chase but how often you see him knuuckle down and make a tackle or chase back to help defenders or midfielders. Worse part is not hardworking or not but his seemingly lack of consistency. When his place is threatened, he will play well.. after that goes all quiet again. If you notice, when he's in a mood, he's pretty good, when he's not, you cannot even tell if he's on the field. COmpare him with say Shearer and you will see a huge diff...in terms of workrate and consistency

Celtic got thrashed 5-0 by unknown team.

wow... i never rated gordon strachan as a manager. and now, wow... 5-0 in the first competitive match this season for the bhoys... wow...

5-0... wow... against an unknown team... wow...
yeah.... Strachan is not a top class mgr... wrong choice for celtic to replace Martin with him...

Good for us as Celtic may be our next round opponent..

Under GH, Baros was banging in superb goals even though he was third choice behind Owen and Heskey. Last season, even with injuries and Owen/Heskey sold, Baros didn't get picked for many of the key games, Rafa preferring to use Cisse/Kewell or Ciss/Garcia or something like that.

I always wondered if the view from the dugout looks so different from the view we get on TV, that Baros looks so bad to the manager. Finally, after reflecting on comments made by GH and Baros himself, I think the problems comes down to this: attitude.

We, the fantastic EPL managers who think we know best from our little ESPN broadcasts, see only the player's performance on the pitch. Rafa (and GH before him) have to deal with the players day-in and day-out. They will know the player's work-rate in training, attitude, teamwork, etc. etc. I suspect that Baros is very much a lone-ranger in Liverpool (vs Czech team where everyone is like one big family speaking the same language), and that reflects in his style where he doesn't make the simple pass to a teammate for the tap-in but tries to shoot crazy shots from acute angles. This not only makes the team lose good chances, it causes friction between teammates (I have seen Gerrard yell at Baros MANY TIMES) and affects overall morale. That's why Morientes is so highly rated - not just his actual performance but how he lifts the entire team by his intelligent play. People appreciate that, the team morale is better when they see him on the pitch.

Thus, while Baros is undoubtedly a class striker, and does get 15 goals a season, his generally attitude in both training and on the pitch might have a more negative effect on the team and Rafa might not be too impressed by that. I seriously think Crouch, surrounded by Gerrard, Alonso, Morientes, Garcia, Zenden, etc will be able to get 15 goals a season at Pool, considering what he did when surrounded by the kind of players at S'ton (like that moron Higginbotham). If so, Baros' contributions in terms of goals becomes unnecessary, and if you count the moaning about not playing, the selfish pitch play and the overall team morale issue, I would rather the 7m from his sale be put to a decent CD.

BTW Milito deal is dead, he signed a new deal with Zaragoza. Let's pray we grab Andrade or Upson soon, Hyypia is slower than some snails in my fishtank :(
I think you may be right... I also think that it's more of an attitude thing.. If you look at it, he's been at anfield for 4 years and should ahve gelled with players like Gerard, Carra etc who was there all these years...

Agreed... As for Baros issue, somehow i agree with both you and Wong se...

You see, factually, he did not say he regretted not going to barca, i dun think there's a bid anyway. He just say going Barca will be a dream move. I think that statement is fair enough. It's just like a lot of players, including Henry, will prob regard, going to REAL as a dream move.

However, to actually say it, is unstabilising the team. Imagine your 1st choice striker saying he wanna join Barca... not much diff from Gerrard saying he wants to make a dream move to Chelsea right? You would have jump on Gerrard and shout on him.

In several reports, Baros did indicate he will stay on and fight for his chance etc.. but did you not read that he also mentioned that if he has no regualr football, he will move.

so far this season..we had released more players than we bought in. In terms of quantity..we are shrinking...but in terms of quality...we need to play 38 match to know wht answer.

Defence definately need more cover..How could we concede the first goal agaisnt Kaunas .. And how could only have Hyypia+Carra for the whole reasons..?

I already rest my case. Since you bring it up again, I would like to ask you where did it mention that Baros regretted not moving to Barcelona?

I rest my case here. U are correct..as long as we did not find the wording of "regret"..we can not say he regretted...(Uk police shoot 5 times on the victim heads...but he did not kill the victim"

I do not think it's incompatibility as well... Crouch can play similar role to Koeller, see how he sets up cisse for 1st goal...
Only if he can do it more on a consistent basis..may be throuhgt out the whole season.

I think you may be right... I also think that it's more of an attitude thing.. If you look at it, he's been at anfield for 4 years and should ahve gelled with players like Gerard, Carra etc who was there all these years...

agree. read from football365...one of the article question Baros attitude

" Is playing good football in CL final a bigger than a pre-season friendly ? But why Baros played so well and so hard working in the friendly ? what is the motivation behind ? The answer is obvious - to show Rafa that he is still a capable striker...who wish to stay at LFC - The European Champion , rather than to those smaller clubs...Shalke, Villa...bla bla bla."

baros is moving!! nunez moved out! ha!

and josemi is on the way out too...Fantastic.

Uk police shoot 5 times on the victim heads...but he did not kill the victim
yah and you know why? it could be they missed or no bullets or misfire.

If you compare number of players released vs numbers of players brought in.. the gap looks big. But from the list of players released, some of them were actually loaned out last season. So the difference between the 2 is significantly smaller. Still, we need to reinforce the defence
