Well, your personal opinions about my opinions are as above.. I rest my case.

Baros is crap.. whatever

baros is not crap....his potential hasn't been realised at liverpool yet. just like crespo's potential hasn't been realised at chelsea yet.

Whats up with Baros? I dun think he is crap la. Too strong a word. He is a good striker, not the best but above average, its just that he cannot fit into the squad. I dunno why too! If fact, i will rate him better than crouch cos he has the big match and international experience. :embrass: If he cannot fit in the team, force also no use. In fact, I think he overstayed liao. Should have tried his luck elsewhere.

No need to get so worked up.... For baros, i think the main problem is more mental... he's just not willing to knuckle down and work hard... not much a manager can do...

anyone watched last nite's match?
one goal from def.. mid and striker each

baros dun work hard??u gotta be joking..

Baros is not crap player...he scored 15 goals for us last season...A player who scored 15 goals is not a crap player..just like heskey who scored average 15 goals is not crap player.

but Baros style does not suit the Liverpool...

He is the best (i wrote this quite sometime ago) at out and out striker. He has any eye for goal and is very alert to score...if he is in the box..Only in the box.

However...there must be someone who feed him the ball..like Koeller feed Baros, heskey feed Owen, Sheringham feed cole/york etc..

In Liverpool....he should always be playing in the box...but not to carry the ball by himself and run like headless chicken...

And because he continued to run like headless chicken and his style does not invite the team into the play....Rafa had no choice but to sell him....

If U were Rafa, and u need additional 7 -8m to buy a CD... how would u finance that > which player u would sell to get 7m or how many players u want to sell in order to get 7m ?

run here run there...run with the ball and eventually losing it...not considered "work hard".

if running a lot means work hard..the hardest ever LFC player is Jason McAteer.

then pls tell mi wat is working hard?

baros, in my opinion, is a good striker. he's got pace, he's actually pretty strong for his size and he is hardworking and determined. the only problem really is whether he's willing to learn how to play in a team and to rein in his ego. if baros is playing for real, i think he would be a success because they don't really play in a discipline system (at least before luxemburgo) and he can capitalise on the work of zidane, figo etc and just focus on scoring. but liverpool doesn't play that way. we play in a discipline manner where every player must do their part and work for the team. for us, having baros could be a liability though i think he can still start less crucial games and he'd be a fantastic supersub. bring him on in the second half against tiring oposition and he can run at them and unsettle them. he's especially useful when we're defending a lead where everybody is hanging back and we just send through passes to the ol' headless chicken to chase. and chase he definitely will. and i certianly don't have much issue with his ability to finish a chance if it comes his way.
sell baros, by all means, if we need the cash. if we get a good price, we certainly need the money more than him. but if not, i think he can still be an asset, particularly if he grows up. then he'd be a great forward.

i would say that is working hard, but definitely not working smart. and working hard doesn't equate productive. it's more important to be productive than to work hard alone.

Forlan also very hardworking.... but work hard in the wrong team end up holland :p

u answer the question. hard working but non productive. Precisely.

as giddygoat further explain...Baros is good. (not very good). He is not versatile enough to suit himself in Liverpool.

Just like Forlan..a better man in La Liga rather than in MU. A striker scored more goals than Raul and Owen...he can't be that bad.

Celtic got thrashed 5-0 by unknown team.

wow... i never rated gordon strachan as a manager. and now, wow... 5-0 in the first competitive match this season for the bhoys... wow...

5-0... wow... against an unknown team... wow...

baros is hardworking. no doubt! :)

most likely he'll be sold by next week?

was watchin ESPN(i think) yesterday and they were showing (play of the day), from the match against Kaumas(or dunno what). Sheer class. 9 touches of first touch football which started from the center of the midfield and ended with a shot on goal. It wasn't on target though. There were 4 players involved.. Crouch.. Alonso.. Stevie G.. can't remember the other one..

back to baros issue.. are we really that hard up for that 7m? if we need the money and the only way to fund that is by selling him.. then sell him by all means. If not i hope RB will keep him. He is one who works his socks off for the entire match. He may not be the most productive striker but he gets 12-15 goals a season still, which i believe he can do better if he gets better support.

as the case with Baros...

i think the main reason behind his intended sales to some unknown team could be that RAFA felt that he would be an unstabilising factor in the team if he has a prolonged spell on the bench. still remember his bitchin' last season over his no-playing on certain games. then when he got a chance, he buanged good chances.

however, i do not deny that Baros is a class act and i don't believe he will move to Aston Villa. he has too much ambition. furthermore Villa is not in Europe Competition.

Under GH, Baros was banging in superb goals even though he was third choice behind Owen and Heskey. Last season, even with injuries and Owen/Heskey sold, Baros didn't get picked for many of the key games, Rafa preferring to use Cisse/Kewell or Ciss/Garcia or something like that.

I always wondered if the view from the dugout looks so different from the view we get on TV, that Baros looks so bad to the manager. Finally, after reflecting on comments made by GH and Baros himself, I think the problems comes down to this: attitude.

We, the fantastic EPL managers who think we know best from our little ESPN broadcasts, see only the player's performance on the pitch. Rafa (and GH before him) have to deal with the players day-in and day-out. They will know the player's work-rate in training, attitude, teamwork, etc. etc. I suspect that Baros is very much a lone-ranger in Liverpool (vs Czech team where everyone is like one big family speaking the same language), and that reflects in his style where he doesn't make the simple pass to a teammate for the tap-in but tries to shoot crazy shots from acute angles. This not only makes the team lose good chances, it causes friction between teammates (I have seen Gerrard yell at Baros MANY TIMES) and affects overall morale. That's why Morientes is so highly rated - not just his actual performance but how he lifts the entire team by his intelligent play. People appreciate that, the team morale is better when they see him on the pitch.

Thus, while Baros is undoubtedly a class striker, and does get 15 goals a season, his generally attitude in both training and on the pitch might have a more negative effect on the team and Rafa might not be too impressed by that. I seriously think Crouch, surrounded by Gerrard, Alonso, Morientes, Garcia, Zenden, etc will be able to get 15 goals a season at Pool, considering what he did when surrounded by the kind of players at S'ton (like that moron Higginbotham). If so, Baros' contributions in terms of goals becomes unnecessary, and if you count the moaning about not playing, the selfish pitch play and the overall team morale issue, I would rather the 7m from his sale be put to a decent CD.

BTW Milito deal is dead, he signed a new deal with Zaragoza. Let's pray we grab Andrade or Upson soon, Hyypia is slower than some snails in my fishtank :(
